AG Eric Schneiderman to investigate Donald J. Trump Foundation as House Dems call for federal probe

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is investigating the Donald J. Trump Foundation, he said Tuesday.
Schneiderman, whose office is already overseeing a $40 million suit against Trump related to his shuttered scam school, will probe the charity “to make sure it’s complying with the laws governing charities in New York," he told CNN’s Jake Tapper Tuesday night.
Schneiderman, in his interview with CNN, said his “interest in this issue really is in my capacity as regulator of nonprofits in New York State.”
“We have been concerned that the Trump Foundation may have engaged in some impropriety from that point of view," he said.
"And we've inquired into it and we've had correspondence with them.
I didn't make a big deal out of it or hold a press conference.
We have been looking into the Trump Foundation to make sure it's complying with the laws governing charities in New York."
News of Schneiderman’s probe into the foundation comes as his office continues to investigate allegations that the GOP nominee swindled more than 5,000 students through his school.
Questions surrounding Trump’s foundation have intensified after news resurfaced that it had sent a $25,000 donation in September 2013 to the Florida Attorney General’s campaign, after her office said it was considering legal action against Trump University.
