View Full Version : Obama Subdividing America (Along Racial Lines)葉o Win

Mister D

"Now even as we speak, there are those who are preparing to divide us, the spin masters and negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of anything goes.

"Well, I say to them tonight, there's not a liberal America and a conservative America; there's the United States of America. There's not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there's the United States of America."

That was state Sen. Barack Obama in his keynote address to the 2004 Democratic convention. His rejection of tribal politics, his stirring call to national unity, vaulted him into the Senate and was the first step on the path that took him to the White House.

Well, that was then, but now is now.

According to The Washington Post, Obama's 2012 campaign is today busily subdividing the nation into racial, ethnic and religious enclaves for targeted appeals to find a "narrow path to victory."

Which is why I brought that up with his visits to the Black Caucus.....Class and racial. Then they will say it is okay to be this way but only during campaign Mode.

Well, you can't blame Obama too much.

Rumor has it the Black Caucus is a lot bigger than the White Caucus.

That's what the ladies say.

he cannot win without the white vote. he can pander to minorities for the next year but if he pisses off the independant white vote he is done.

He already has in my opinion...he is done. He never had a lot of white votes to begin with, it was the black turnout that made the difference and that's not going to happen either.

still, the black vote only comprises about 10 percent of the registered voters, independant is about 40 percent. he is playing with fire on this and will get burned.

They'll say that this is OK as long as the pol in question is not making an appeal to whites.

why is it wrong for him to speak to the black caucus?

he speaks at all kinds of special events

womens clubs too...should he not make an appeal to women?

Why is it wrong for the "post-racial" POTUS to speak at a racialist caucus? Should pols make racial appeals to white voters? Hey, I'm all for it. Agreed?

its called campaigning and every politician does it from the president on down

pols make racial appeals all the time with their stance on immigration and such

obama is black, thats just something people have to deal with

Yes, Obama is black. So what? What are you trying to suggest, Elibe? Secondly, a sane stance on illegal immigration is a racial appeal? Seriously, Elibe? "And such"? What? Please be specific, Elibe.

In any case, so you have no problem with pols making racial appeals to whites? Good. Do me a favor though and try to remember you said that.

Pols can do whatever they want. They have made racial appeals to white...ask David Duke how that turned out :D

Now if your question is why our society demonizes those who do, that's a whole other issue.

If David Duke is the only example you can come up with then I rest my case. :D Racial appeals to whites are extremely rare. Good God! Can you imagine if a POTUS told a white organization to "punish our enemies" or encouraged whites to vote for him out of racial solidarity?

Well he was one of the more prominent on the national level. I'm sure there are plenty more at local levels. :D

This is just the reality of the world we live in. Blacks had it rough here for a long time, so it's not comparing apples to apples. You can piss and moan and behind closed doors a lot of the Pols you support would probably agree with you but it's a situation where they don't want to piss off any potential voters. It's not just race...ask them about stupid mundane crap like sports and they'll often hedge on that too.

I'm not. David Duke is like Tim McVeigh in that respect. ;)

Yes, conflicting racial interests and separation is the indeed the reality of the world we live in. Welcome, Conley. Pleased to have you. So your argument is that any objection to your and the official hypocrisy is pissing and moaning and that any thought of white interests is fundamentally illegitmate because blacks have had it bad in the past? ? Do I understand you correctly?

Where do sense hostility? I asked you several questions so I can get a clearer idea of what you are trying to say. Clearly, making tracial appeals in America is taboo..for those of us with a fair complexion anyway. No, most pols do not make racial appeals and avoid it like the plague.
