‘We Don’t Have People Who Die Because They Don’t Have Insurance’Mitt Romney doubled down on his suggestion that uninsured Americans can find the care they need in emergency rooms, telling The Dispatch that people will always receive the treatment they need, and do not die or suffer because they can not pay for care. He pointed to federal law that requires hospitals to admit emergency patients, repeating his advice that patients rely on the most expensive form of care reserved strictly for emergencies. Romney told the Columbus Dispatch:

“We don’t have a setting across this country where if you don’t have insurance, we just say to you, ‘Tough luck, you’re going to die when you have your heart attack,’  ” he said as he offered more hints as to what he would put in place of “Obamacare,” which he has pledged to repeal.

“No, you go to the hospital, you get treated, you get care, and it’s paid for, either by charity, the government or by the hospital. We don’t have people that become ill, who die in their apartment because they don’t have insurance.”

He pointed out that federal law requires hospitals to treat those without health insurance — although hospital officials frequently say that drives up health-care costs.

I worry about Mitt.. He seems quite out of touch re: emergency rooms.. and oblivious to the financial realities. I set up a clinic next door to the ER 20 years ago that treated patients on a sliding scale. Worked like a charm and got the ER out of the red.

I also worry about his adoration of Netanyahu.. .. who should NOT be calling the shots on US foreign policy.

It does drive up the costs, but the law is in place and anyone...even stinkin' illegals can have free care.

When will Republicans learn; you don't go to Emergency Rooms for Health Care, you'd think the name might be a hint?

Mitt can say what he says ... he's simply *put himself in (severely conservative) motion* ...

Who remembers thier physics about objects in motion ... that is, once objects are in motion they will remain in motion until when ?

It's not preventative...that's what you mean. Always with hidden meanings, but it is health care..."taking care of their health"!

I wonder how many people will die from losing their full time jobs because of Obama, let alone those who can't find work at all, a greater and greater part of the population.

The underclass tend to die early. Perhaps that is the Democrat solution to poverty after all--get them on welfare and they will die sooner.
