Poll: Sheriff Joe Arpaio trails Dem by 15 points

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is 15 points behind his Democratic opponent Paul Penzone, according to a new poll.

Penzone leads Arpaio 46 percent to 31 percent in the Arizona Republic/Morrison/Cronkite News survey out Thursday.

Arpaio, 84, is a national figure over his hard-line views on illegal immigration and repeated clashes with the federal government.

The sheriff, who supports GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, is seeking his seventh term representing Arizona’s largest county.

As an Arizonan I voted against Arpaio and I hope others do as well. He has been a worthless sheriff and showboat for years. He has cost the taxpayers millions in lawsuits lost due to his abuses of power. Now he's running ads here blaming even Hillary for the latest lawsuit claiming his illegal actions regarding immigrants is "just doing his job".....WRONG! He is a sheriff in a county of our state. His county doesn't even touch the border, he is not customs, ICE, he is not border patrol. He has been ordered by courts to refrain from these illegal acts but defied the court. He faces jail as a result. He has to go. Ironically, because he is such a publicity seeker most of his campaign money comes from people in other states who believe his publicity stunts. He's only "America's most abusive sheriff"not the toughest.
