We wrote six weeks ago about journalists' complaint that they got "played" by Donald Trump, who turned an expected news conference into an advertisement for his new Washington hotel. Trump dragged his press corps back to the hotel for a grand opening on Wednesday, but this time all three major cable news stations refused to air the event live.

How's this for irony? Trump's new DC hotel is literally right next door to.....

....the IRS headquarters.

So Donald, you can just walk out the door and down the street and hand us those tax returns, okay?

Instead of campaigning in a battleground state, Trump decided to promote his hotel in D.C.

Brochures were handed out to the press, touting his new hotel beside the IRS building. He spoke at length about the hotel, adding that it was finished ahead of schedule (it was finished a year after schedule).

The Trump brand is sinking with his poll numbers. He knows he won't win the White House. He could be trying to save Senators' seats or taking back Florida, but he'd rather promote his hotel.
