White House: Obama doesn't believe Comey is trying to influence the election. "The president's assessment of his integrity and his character has not changed," White House press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters during the daily briefing. "The president does not believe that Director Comey is intentionally trying to influence the outcome of an election. The president does not believe that he is secretly strategizing to benefit one candidate or one political party."

It's good that Obama has such confidence in the man despite a hundred of Comey's peers severely questioning his actions and, in effect, not supporting him.

Director Comey had enough problems without Obama coming to his defense. Obama? Remember, if you like your health insurance you can keep your health insurance. Remember, there is not a smidgen of corruption in the IRS. Remember, on the VA, "I will not stand for it. There must be consequences."

The consequences?
"WASHINGTON —Despite the controversies still swirling around the Department of Veterans Affairs, nearly 189,000 employees received more than $177 million in bonuses for fiscal 2015, according to data obtained by USA TODAY."

Hey, if President Obama says Director Comey is okay who are we to question. We all know the Castro Brothers are okay, the Mullahs in Iran aren't pursuing nuclear weapons, Israel is soley to blame for problems in the Middle East, and Hamas is our ally.

I bet the woodcarvers come once a week to prune Obama's nose. He lies so much it becomes too long.

What a conundrum for some, huh? I mean on one hand, Comey is a horrible person who should step down immediately. But then Obama stands behind the guy, and we know Obama can do no wrong. So where do we direct our anger now?

(sarcasm off)

I think Comey did his job. I was highly critical of him a few months ago, and still don't like the guy, but I cant blame him for wanting to save his own butt by being transparent with Congress. He is not the one who leaked it to the press, anyways.

Obama is a win/win situation here.

If he had been critical of Comey, the Right would have hated him, but they already despise him, so he would have lost nothing. Supporting Comey draws the scorn of his own party, but he only has a couple of months left in office, so he doesn't need them anymore.

I have to wonder if there is a little bit of "payback" involved here. The Clinton's are not exactly his favorite people. He needed them while in office, but now, they have outlived their usefulness to him.

Obama knows whats going on behind the scenes. He didn't jump pout there for know reason. Heck it could be for selfish reasons.

It is a far cry from Harry Reid's attack for sure.

Obama has always been reasonable about stuff like this. For all the cries of partisanship, he has been fairly moderate all considering.

I have to concur.Obama could have done so much worse than what he has done.
I mean, aside from trading a deserter for 5 known enemies of the state,he's been fairly low key and hasn't touched off ww3 or anything.

One American deserter is worth 1000 known enemies of the state. America first, even the bad parts... no?
