View Full Version : I am ashamed of us!

After all the elections I cast ballots in this was the one that has forced me to understand that there are more people voting than thinking. I am embarrassed, ashamed, and sad about the America I love and have defended. At this late age, if my health would permit, I would actually leave the country I have so loved. The new President is a mistake. You may not think so today, but you will see as he proves he is what he has told you he is. Call me a cry baby, a bad loser whatever you wish. I don't have any problem telling you, we are doing it wrong that someone who told you what he was can be elected. It is too late and too sad.

If we can survive 8 years of Obama, we can survive Trump. I am not so sure we would have survived Clinton. She was a terrible choice and you would have inflicted her upon the nation. For that, you should be ashamed.

I don't know what kind of a President Trump will be, but I am dead certain he will be better than the alternative and better than what we have had for the last 8 years.

The worst thing centrist Obama did was implement Obamacare, which is a marginal improvement over the previous status quo. Oh, the horror! The horror!

Um, the pendulum will swing and I think you know this. The country is mired in perpetual war, $20tn in debt and I'm incrementally seeing my income consumed by taxes. All the problems the country faces weren't caused by Donald Trump.

I think that I have lived long enough to be wary of reactionary politics. It always seems so positive in the beginning and then when the chickens come home to roost it invariably ends up taking an immense toll. Populist leaders who live up to their word rarely take a long view of their policies or consider all of the consequences. Ultimately it takes years to undo the damage that their short-sighted policies create. Give me a leader that measures policies in terms of years and careful change rather than an impulsive leader that slashes and burns with no insight into the consequences.

i have reached the same conclusion.there is no evidence that trump is going to solve his massive"conflict of interest" issues.he's supposed to serve us not enrich himself and his family.along with appointing several"highly questionable" cabinet members he is playing fast and loose with the lives of the american people.so far no one will stand up to him.we are expected to trust this man to do the right thing when he shows no inclination to do so.in my life-time,no leader has worried me more and he hasn't taken office yet..

The outgoing president was a mistake but the leftists are do ideologically blinded to see it.

Of course, we had more people voting than thinking. The Democrats flood the nursing homes with thugs to coerce the elderly with dementia to sign already completed absentee ballots. People with dementia think but not clearly. And, of course, dead people don't think at all and they voted for Democrats, too. And foreign nationals. They do think but they don't speak English well and they don't recognize that the Democrats want to turn the cuontry they fled to into the country the fled from. The convicted, and not yet convicted, felons know who to vote for, too. Pedophiles, rapists, murderers, and muggers all know their self-interest without thinking.

So, stop for a minute and think, Jim. Do you really want to live in Cuba or Venezuela? If you do, you can, without trying to turn America into those failures.

As a voter I had to think long term. Trump is no saint, but there was no way I could leave the naming of U.S. Supreme Court Justices to Hillary Clinton. That decision will affect you and I far beyond Trump's presidency. I already KNEW what Hillary wanted - Merrick Garland.

As a judge, Garland had at least four major gun cases to rule on. He ruled against the Second Amendment every time. We already allowed the Democrats to put a socialist on the Supreme Court. I don't think you really want that to be the direction this country goes.

Maybe Trump won't make it through his first term before hanging it up or getting impeached. If he does, Mike Pence becomes president and he would have been my first choice had he ran in the primary.

I don't know whether you are a Donald Trump supporter but I'd be curious to hear from those who are about their thoughts on his recent cabinet picks. For instance, what are the thoughts on his selection for Secretary of Labor? Anti-workforce or anti-union-coercion? A national right to work law for federal-monied-projects is a good idea. Ending public sector unions is essential.

The Federal government should repeal any legislation with a minimum wage requirement. Taking these steps will increase employment.

I think not. I have been here longer than you. I'll stay.

Then why did you make the dumb comment that if you were of better health you would leave the country?

Crooked and the Democrats cheated in the wrong places.

That is the strangest thing. They engage in fraud where they dominate politically without it.

He's suggesting that native Americans have been neutralized by consigning them to reservations.

The conditions on the modern Indian reservation is both puzzling and disturbing. In the state of Washington some of them are located on the most beautiful stretches of waterfront property you will ever see.

The communities which are on these reservations look like third world shit holes. It's not because of a lack of money either. They could be five star resort destinations.

I don't get it.

I doubt that this will be a popular opinion, but reservations are concentration camps for aboriginal peoples. It's what they were intended to be. Any society so confined will die. Reservations or reserves is a term we now use for captive animals. Basically a zoo to preserve DNA but not a thriving society.

Maybe its time reservations were abolished.

The same applies to inner city ghettos.

Are you sure about that Donttread? I don't catch the news much anymore because I'm sure they are still talking about the same old worn out talking points they vomited on us a month ago but I did happen to see that Donald has nominated many financial campaign contributors to his cabinet. It sounds like it's very much within what others were defining as pay to play.

I don't know whether you are a Donald Trump supporter but I'd be curious to hear from those who are about their thoughts on his recent cabinet picks. For instance, what are the thoughts on his selection for Secretary of Labor? I admit that I haven't done too much research on this gentlemen but apparently he is anti work force and doesn't seem inclined to support minimum wage. How do these policies and positions support the working man and woman?

Trish, first of all please don't be burting my bubble before it has a chance to float. LOL. I realize Trump is far from bagage free and really don't even like the persona we see in the media. But he is not mainstraem donkephant and that is a start. I honestly belive alot of what he's doing right now is starting rumors and half truths to keep the dems chasing their tail until he truely chooses whom to appoint.
So I'm paying very little attention, except to the ultra lib whining, until he's in office and these appointments are official. I realize full well that he is the other side of the corrupt politician coin, the buyer vs. the buyee. But still he's not Bushbama and that at least is good.
BTW, you are right about the news.

This is 2016. They've run out of excuses. No one has forced these communities into third world status. Plus no one is forcing people to stay in these places. Money has poured into these places and continues to to pour in with no visible results.

I have been on 3 reservations, 2 in South Dakota and one in Nebraska. They are terrible and ugly places....having said that the Souix People on average get 2500 a month from the tribe.

I know, he did so little! Centrist who was elected as a lefty.
Try a communist who is incompetent.

As for the OP, I agree with AZJim. The "us" he refers to must be Democrats and if I were a Democrat I'd be ashamed, too.
