View Full Version : Vanity Fair: Trump Grill could be the worst restaurant in America!

Oh GOD this is funny!

<snips>

As my companions and I contemplated the most painless way to eat our flaccid, gray Szechuan dumplings with their flaccid, gray innards, as a campy version of “Jingle Bells” jackhammered in the background, a giant gold box tied with red ribbon toppled onto us. Trump, it seemed, was already fighting against the War on Christmas.

Our waiter, coiffed and charming, was determined to gaslight us into thinking we were having a good time. “Trump gets the taco bowl and the lasagna and baked ziti,” he said, before subsequently informing the table that we could not order the lasagna or baked ziti. I asked the waiter what Trump’s children eat. He didn’t seem to understand the question, or, like Marco Rubio (http://www.vanityfair.com/people/marco-rubio), appeared unable to depart from his prescribed talking points.“Oh, I’ve shaken hands with him before, and they’re pretty normal-sized hands (http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2016/03/how-donald-trump-became-the-short-fingered-vulgarian),” he responded.

Our waiter eventually noted that Don Jr. gets the filet mignon cooked medium-rare, with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. The steak came out overcooked and mealy, with an ugly strain of pure fat running through it, crying out for A.1. sauce (it was missing the promised demi-glace, too). The plate must have tilted during its journey from the kitchen to the table, as the steak slumped to the side over the potatoes like a dead body inside a T-boned minivan. Don Jr. probably does not eat the filet mignon here regularly, either. Come to think of it, judging by its non-cylindrical shape, it might not have even been a filet at all.

Renowned butcher Pat LaFrieda once dared me to eat an eyeball (http://www.mediaite.com/food/pat-lafrieda-knob-creek-pig-roast-eyeball-eating-video/#0) that he himself popped out of the skull of a roasted pig. That eyeball tasted better than the Trump Grill’s (Grille’s) Gold Label Burger, a Pat LaFrieda–branded short-rib burger blend molded into a sad little meat thing, sitting in the center of a massive, rapidly staling brioche bun, hiding its shame under a slice of melted orange cheese. It came with overcooked woody batons called “fries”—how can someone mess up fries?—and ketchup masquerading as Heinz. If the cheeseburger is a quintessential part of America’s identity, Trump’s pledge to “make America great again” suddenly appeared not very promising. (Presumably, Trump’s Great America tastes like an M.S.G.-flavored kitchen sponge lodged between two other sponges.)

And of course - Trump responds!

It's funny how perfectly your comment fits with the purpose of the story, isn't it.

Your Emperor is standing there naked, and you're too stupid to realize what you just said.

For years, "liberals" made fun of conservatives (and rightly so) for embracing every negative article or opinion about Obama (he's a secret Muslim, he wasn't born in America, he wears mom pants, etc.) and now they're doing the exact same thing with regard to Trump (he's a racist, he's a secret agent of Putin, all his business ventures are somehow frauds or failures, etc.). The utter lack of principle or consistency from both sides is quite disgraceful.

Not sure why I came here (I could have a better, quicker meal at Shake Shack) but I guess I came out of curiosity.

1) Overpriced. I'm not talking value relative to quality, I'm talking straight up overpriced.

2) Food was almost inedible. I deployed and spent 7 months in the Persian Gulf with some of the most disgusting food on the planet and *this* was worse than that.

3) Ambience was nauseating. Full of target art and tawdry gold foil.

4) I feel bad for the employees.

You forgot to insinuate that Trump is sexually attracted to his daughter.

Really, Bo, you have become the very thing you claim to hate, a completely off-the-wall, hyper-partisan who will cling to any negative story about Trump no matter how outlandish, baseless, or petty.

And it's a shame because there are legitimate reasons to criticize Trump, but you actually make that harder to do by engaging in such churlish tactics.

It's comical that Bo is attacked for using Trump's tactics throughout his election campaign when Republicans salivate on his every word.

Hey sorry, but i thought the review was pretty damn funny.

Face it - Trump properties are garish, overrated, overpriced and the restaurant reviews are are almost uniformly terrible.

Not all food critics are liberals who hate Trump. ;-)

If Kim Jong Un is receiving translated Trump tweets he must be disappointed that he is no longer considered as the world's number 1 nutcase.

While that is very true, were the conservatives taken to task for those petty articles like the liberals are here? I've only been here since 2014, and I remember alot of silence when those petty articles about Obama were talked about. Let's not forget all the comments about him playing golf, taking trips, how the first lady looked like a man, etc. etc.

I've defended Obama from scurrilous attacks on numerous occasions over the years. Was I there to defend him from every single one? No. Just as I will not be there to defend Trump from every single one. And I'm sure you'll take notice of the fact that I never said anything about Obama playing golf, taking trips, Michelle Obama's looks, etc. My critiques of Obama have always been substantive, as will my critiques of Trump.
