Anyways, this is reprehensible if done on purpose. They have not been able to establish that yet, I don't think. It seems bizarre for a terrorist to try and flee since they usually kill as many people as possible before they die one way or another.

There is a difference between violent crime and terrorism (assuming this is terrorism). Comparing gun crime to terrorism isn't really an accurate comparison as there are different goals, motivations, cultural factors, so on. For example, the gun violence in the poorer areas of major city centers has basically no similarities to the Boston Marathon bombing. Different problems arise from different types of crimes. I am not a proponent of gun control but I recognize that there are differences, major differences, that make your comment sort of irrelevant.
