Is John Lewis really as ignorant as he sounds or is he merely pretending for his constituents? Certainly he is aware the the President of the United States is not elected by direct vote of the people but by the Electoral College. Donald Trump received more votes via the Electoral College and that is really all that matters.

As for the Russians possibly hacking the election, there is absolutely no proof that even if they did hack Hillary's emails and published them this led to more votes for Trump.

How in the world can intelligent people continue to elect this prune faced illiterate over and over is beyond me.

I don't think he's as ignorant as he sounds. More likely he's volunteered to spout the DNC's talking points, and be immune to criticism due to his civil rights reputation. The oldest trick in the book.

GOP County Official In Georgia Calls John Lewis A 'Racist Pig'

Source: Talking Points Memo

By MATT SHUHAM Published JANUARY 16, 2017, 11:21 AM EDT

A member of the board of commissioners in Gwinnett County, Georgia–the second most populous county in the state–called civil rights hero Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) a “racist pig” in a Facebook post Saturday after Lewis said he didn't consider President-elect Donald Trump to be a "legitimate" president.

In posts unearthed by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://www.ajc.com/news/local-govt--politics/john-lewis-racist-pig-gwinnett-commissioner-writes-facebook/EBv0efqsyNlqYNyJnv4uFN/), Tommy Hunter, a Republican county commissioner, also referred to Lewis’ party as “Demonrats” and “a bunch of idiots.”

“John Lewis is a racist pig,” one post begins. “There ain’t political pundit that didn’t say on November 9 that this would be Demonrats’ EXACT response to Trump winning.”

On Friday, Lewis said he did not consider Trump a “legitimate” president, and that he would not attend the presidential inauguration. He justified his decision by saying that a Russian “conspiracy” had damaged Hillary Clinton’s candidacy and helped Trump’s.

I'd like to repeat something I said in a related thread (and as usual that thread ended with my long winded post):

As an observer, I would have to agree that most of the viciousness, the lies and the nasty rhetoric comes from the left (as Common said.)
At the same time, I don't think I can respect the right for the way they've handled the left during my adult life. For example, John Lewis gets to question the legitimacy of Trump's presidency. What about Lewis?
John Lewis is a drunken liar with friends that, if they were white, would be indefensible. Take for instance the friend of John Lewis who stated he used to spit in white peoples food when he was a waiter. OR, perhaps the other "friend" of Lewis, another civil rights icon (sic) who was supposedly a preacher, had sex with some ladies in a hotel on the eve of his assassination:
http://www.aim.org/wls/i-liked-to-sp...ite-customers/ (http://www.aim.org/wls/i-liked-to-spit-in-the-food-of-white-customers/)

http://www.martinlutherking.org/dream.html

Then there was Lewis's consummate political buddy in Georgia, Hosea Williams. Williams was the town drunk and rabble rouser, racking up more than 125 arrests - virtually NONE of them having squat to do with "civil rights."
http://articles.latimes.com/1991-09-...hosea-williams (http://articles.latimes.com/1991-09-01/news/mn-2345_1_hosea-williams)

This is the caliber of men that Lewis made his reputation with. John Lewis, himself, was arrested at least 45 times. The only job John Lewis has ever had in his entire life, other than politician, is a civil rights activist. As a politician, Lewis is a pabulum puking liberal that opposes the Second Amendment and he opposes Trump on immigration. In short, Lewis has NO love for the Constitution and would reduce America to the status of a third world nation if he could lead Congress.

Quite frankly, I think it's time we learned what these people really are and told it like it is. The "right" needs to do the right thing. Label them, expose them and move forward with our country.

http://thepoliticalforums.com/threads/76777-Being-a-Civil-Rights-Icon-Doesn-t-Makes-Us-Immune-From-Criticism-or-Debate/page2

John Lewis has gotten a free ride from rich white guys around Atlanta mostly due to the Martin Luther King fanaticism. Those of us in nearby Gwinnett County aren't deluded as much. Lewis and his ilk have been in control for a number of decades and America declines while they continue their petty race war against whites. It's about time we looked at reality.

Why is the white person accused of being a racist for criticizing the black man, but the black man is considered a great inspirational leader when he criticizes the white guy?

Because the white man is not being called a racist for criticizing the black man, he is called a racist for his posting history, you know, like when he called some little leaguers "nig-nogs". But then again, that was probably overlooked so we can pretend it's about this one incident.

You are right. The only reason this was exposed is because we can't stand seeing little nignogs win at anything. The fact they were cheating never enters the picture.

First, nobody claimed that Hillary's emails were hacked. The claims were that the DNC's emails were hacked.

Second, how does one "sound" ignorant? What about what he says?

Third, every credible intelligence source has stated that Russia was involved in the national election.

Fourth, nobody talks as ignorantly as Donald Trump.

Your thread is ignorant.

Trump will always be a president with an asterisk due to the interference by the hacking and his loss so heavily of the popular vote. I do not consider him a legitimately elected president either. I've voted for almost 60 years and never before questioned the result of an election until this one.

Im sure your the type who considers any president illegitatate unless he's a Democrat.

I have a better question: If someone, anyone, started out a Conversation or Debate with the statement; is @nathanbforrest45 (http://thepoliticalforums.com/member.php?u=891) is as Ignorant as he sounds ... how would "YOU" continue the Conversation or Debate?
Interesting insight into the "thinking" process of a leftist. Here's my take:

You first look to see who is attacked. If it's an ally, any attack doesn't have to have substance: it merely has to start with a challenge, as you just demonstrated in your post: you presume to shut down the potential for discussion merely because you didn't like the nature of the challenge to one of your own (ignorant) regardless whether he/she is ignorant or not.

How do I draw that inference? Because you didn't even bother to ask how nathan drew the conclusion that John Lewis is ignorant: you proved that you don't care about THOSE details at all. You merely shut down on the accusation itself.

So, Cigar...to directly answer your question, as only a conservative could answer: we would continue the conversation by asking "how and why do you think John Lewis is ignorant?"

Only through those avenues is discussion even possible. You CLEARLY demonstrate the problem with liberals: you never even GET that far.

Well, I apologize but I didn't mean it in the manner you are accusing me of. I was ranting you were completely missing the point of the entire thread. You and others were claiming we were only doing so because of the race of the players. I pointed out in the rest of the post that the reason was because they were cheating. My point was to be facetious. Apparently that is not a tactic that works with the permanently uptight.

I should not have phrased it in the way that I did but the sentiment of the ENTIRE post is valid.

[repost] For me one of the most fascinating, in a rather morbid sense, is Hillary hatred. It demonstrates how hate can be taught and cultivated. Are all - or many - white males, and even some women, misogynists and / or so weak they can be managed to hate a person based on nothing substantive? Trump is a weak, insecure man, his silly tweets show this almost daily, but beyond that he helped create an atmosphere of hate with only words. Most lies or exaggerations.

'What happened when I went for a run in my I’M WITH HER shirt after the election' https://medium.com/@fitlizzy/what-happened-when-i-went-for-a-run-in-my-im-with-her-shirt-after-the-election-51a03fcd690d

PS I know this is about John Lewis but you see the same tactics working.

==================================

But the interested reader may want to check out books noted below, I haven't read Mayers' book yet, but one gets a sense of how knowledge can be created and disseminated in 'Invisible Hands'. I find so often when I talk to Trump supporters they tell me something that is a lie and yet they believe. When you take them to Snopes and show them the details they're quiet but often want to believe the lie as it fits a long running narrative. Weird and rather child like.

"Dark Money: The Hidden History of the Billionaires Behind the Rise of the Radical Right" Jane Mayer

'The Party Is Over: How Republicans Went Crazy, Democrats Became Useless, and the Middle Class Got Shafted' by Mike Lofgren "Strangers in Their Own Land - Anger and Mourning on the American Right" Arlie Russell Hochschild

'Conservative Black Chick' Crystal Wright: "What Has John Lewis Done Since He Marched On Selma?".....

CRYSTAL WRIGHT: John Lewis' comments about President-elect Donald Trump are completely disrespectful. And apparently only thinks a legitimate presidency would only be one that Hillary Clinton was running. And, you know, what I want to know is what has John Lewis done since he marched on Selma? Really. He's riding on the coattails of something that happened over 50 years ago. And it's just -- to me, his position in Congress is illegitimate...

If John Lewis was not black, nobody would care what he is saying. If he wasn't a black Democrat, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus. John Lewis has done more for himself in the past 50 plus years than he's done for black people......snip~

Sen. Manchin: Calling Trump "Illegitimate" Is Giving Russia Exactly What It Wants.....

SEN. JOE MANCHIN: When they keep talking about non-legitimacy, that bothers me from this standpoint here: First of all, there is no indication whatsoever that any votes were tampered with, any voting machines were tampered with whatsoever, anywhere in the United States. In West Virginia, Donald Trump won by about 43%, and I can assure you, there was no tampering to get that type of a margin of victory. But that’s not the case. So, if they believe that there was collusion between President-elect Donald Trump or his staff, we’ll find that out, but there’s no indication of that whatsoever.

The intent of the Russians has always been, under the Soviet control back in the ’70s, they were always trying to be involved and influence our elections. we’ve never seen it at this degree, from everything that we say that we’ve been hearing and seeing shows that they’ve really gone more aggressively this time than ever before. They weren’t successful, but basically their intent. So all of this discord that we see going on between congressmen not attending, people basically saying he’s not legitimate, basically then the Russians have accomplished what they tried to accomplish. I just think it’s wrong and it’s hurtful for the United States of America.....snip~

Looks like the Blue Dog Democrat had to school the illiberals in his Party, huh?

Then Rand Paul had a few words to say.

Rand Paul: John Lewis Shouldn't Be Immune From Criticism Because He's A Civil Rights Icon.....

SEN. RAND PAUL: So, I think I have a good relationship with him. But I would also be one who says -- and I do appreciate what -- him being a civil rights icon. But I would also say that that doesn't make us immune from criticism or debate. So, John Lewis isn't in a position where there can't be a healthy debate back and forth.

TAPPER:...I think one of the things people are taking issue with is not the question about whether John Lewis is immune from criticism. Obviously, he's a partisan Democrat and he said president-elect Trump is illegitimate.

PAUL: Yes, I -- but if it -- but I think it gets one-sided sometimes..... So I think we shouldn't -- when things involve race, it gets very, very sensitive. All of us -- or none of us actually want to be considered to be either racially insensitive. And so it's a very, very important subject, but I think we shouldn't -- we shouldn't ignore that people are partisan. So, John Lewis is a partisan. I have a great deal of respect for him, but he's a partisan......snip~
