Obama didn't want to leave. He would have run for a third term had he been able to get past that pesky thing called the US Constitution. He might even consider another run at it later.

You can see that Trump's address irritated Obama. It was an indictment against the political establishment in general and specifically the path Obama has put us on.

One of the biggest differences between the Trump address and the Obama inaugural addresses is that Trump never talked about himself and Obama couldn't avoid talking about himself.

I can respect the fact that you read my comment in an objective manner. Personally, I didn't think his inaugural address was anything special or inspiring. I don't know if he intended it to be inspiring. I think he just wanted to tell people that there's a change coming.

I didn't think it was anything special or inspiring. It was just a basic "change is coming" speech. It wasn't filled with idealist descriptions of where he wants to go. Just basic populism.
