President Trump’s ACA executive order appears to target Obamacare mandate

Signals government is clearly moving in a new direction

By Tom Howell Jr. - The Washington Times - Saturday, January 21, 2017

President Trump’s sweeping order against Obamacare late Friday appears to give the new administration enough leeway to target the most unpopular aspect of his predecessor’s law — a mandate requiring Americans to get covered or pay a fine, policy analysts said.

The executive order, issued hours after Mr. Trump was sworn into office, also sets the stage for selling insurance across state lines and eyes “greater flexibility to states” in implementing health programs, which are key tenets for Republicans looking to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act alongside Mr. Trump.

Congressional Republicans praised the order late Friday, saying it smooths the path toward relief from Obamacare’s soaring premiums and dwindling choices, as the GOP uses fast-track budget rules to gut the law in the coming weeks.

So it begins. Trump has the guts to get it done. Obama Care like most entitlement program laws are poorly written and even more poorly executed. Out of 23 ACA co-op's there are just 5 left that haven't gone belly up. It's why Obama Care premiums have gone up like a skyrocket since 2014 in most states. Only 14 states (http://www.thefiscaltimes.com/2016/11/01/Here-s-How-Much-Obamacare-Premiums-Are-Rising-All-50-States) have less than double digit jumps in premiums between 2016 and 2017. It's high time they stuck a fork in it and find a better way with a fairly smooth transition. Obama Care was a bad idea that never should have been passed in the first place. It's all on the Democrats, they passed it without a single Republican vote.

Good, any who had to pay a penalty should be reimbursed from the paychecks of any who voted for this, you know, reperations.

Forcing people to buy a private product has no business in Government. Taking there hard earned taxes for not doing so is theft. I see you apparently support that.

You're wasting your breath, they'll never get that until they are taxed extra for background checks on gun owners, then listen to them squeal.

Health insurance should not be a for-profit private industry .

Health insurance shouldn't be part of the market. It should not be a for-profit enterprise.
