Why do these things keep happening in these institutions where people are supposed to have intellectually liberty and supposedly encouraged to speak out on the issues of the day?

they would rather raze the land from sea to sea, than try to get along. One day, they might start and realize they are only destroying themselves in the process and it'll be too late. They will inherit nothing, because they will have burned all of it down.
They never look beyond their eye lids.

This is closer to fascism than anything the left tosses the word around for.

"Land of the free" my ass! The charge was bogus to begin with, they had every right to be there, they were not tresspassing. They were distributing literature the school didn't want it's students to have access to. Find a charge for that "Gomer"
Dropping the charges dosn't just automatically make their storm trooper BS , OK

They can't go that far and I think they know it. The percentage of ultra liberals that could actually take care of themselves in such a situation by farming, hunting, fishing, defending their turf and stores , and making coffee out of roadside weeds ( Specific roadside weeds , so don't try this at home , instead of buying $5.00 Lottes) is very, very low. If they raise everything from sea to sea the cons win hands down

And violated school policy on solicitation.

I don't really believe in the safe space crap or extensive censorship, but university is the last stop before the "real world" for most students. There is a student handbook and rules that they are expected to follow. If they have a problem with the rules, there are ways to go about changing them. Being an adult and a responsible one means following rules. Considering how often people say that young people have no drive or integrity or work ethic, it's kind of funny to see them say universities shouldn't have rules that would be in place in most work environments in the country.

At any rate, I see nothing wrong with handing out pocket constitutions in theory, but I do not support encouraging people to violate rules.

But they were not arrested for handing out the US Constitution, they were arrested for trespassing. You are considered trespassing when an owner asks you to leave their property. If you go to a basketball game on campus, you are not trespassing, but if after the game you continue to stay after they tell you to leave, you will be guilty of trespassing.

His wan't a tu quoque. You still have yet to understand that fallacy.

Of course it wasn't to you, for it was not a liberal opinion. However, according to the fallacy guideline....

Tu quoque (/tjuːˈkwoʊkwiː/;[1] Latin for, "you also") or the appeal to hypocrisy is an informal logical fallacy that intends to discredit the validity of the opponent's logical argument by asserting the opponent's failure to act consistently in accordance with its conclusion(s).

Tah asserted that if the persons arrested were handing out PP pamphlets instead of the Constitution, then they would not have been arrested. That was an attempt to appeal to hypocrisy.

If that is not a tu quoque, then you errored in the other thread accusing crepitus and I of one. Which is it?

By no means a constitutional scholar, but as this is a community college they do not have the same rights to deny free speech as a private college. Their land is public not private which leads to the freedom of assembly as well as speech. I know there was a community college a few years back in Northern Ohio that found this same thing out for trying to control where students could protest.

I am all about teaching the college age that rules apply and they must be followed, I just question if they are being enforced equally.

Who cares who owns the campus, the ones arrested evidently didn't own it. It's like the other member said about BLM, if they are told to leave or else they are trespassing, then they need to leave. Your partisanship is clouding your ability to understand it doesn't matter "what" they were soliciting, when asked to leave a place you don't own, and you don't, be prepared to be arrested for trespassing.

Me thinks that depends on whether or not it is a private (and if it accepts public grant money for example) or institution.

If a public institution I don't think it is lawful to have a contract that abridges your unalienable rights. Private institutions have different rules due it being private property, but that can change as well depending on contacts they sign with a government.
