In less than 24 hours after Trump issued his pro-American and anti-crime executive order to cut off federal grants to insurrectionist sanctuary cities, the first city surrenders and will be rejoining the Union. Looks like someone figured out they will be needing that money. Who will be next?

after Trump's 'sanctuary city' crackdown.....

The mayor of Miami-Dade Thursday ordered the county's jails to comply with federal immigration detention requests after President Donald Trump moved to cut off millions in federal funding to so-called "sanctuary cities."

"In light of the provisions of the Executive Order [Wednesday], I direct you and your staff to honor all immigration detainer requests received from the Department of Homeland Security," Mayor Carlos Gimenez told the county's corrections department, in a letter reported by the Miami Herald.

Miami has never formally declared itself a sanctuary city, unlike New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco and others. Miami-Dade County has refused to indefinitely detain inmates wanted by the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency since 2013. However, the Herald reported that policy is in place because the feds didn't fully reimburse the county for holding the inmates.

A spokesman for Gimenez told Fox News that the mayor's order was a "no brainer."

Trump praised Gimenez's decision in a post on his Twitter account late Thursday...

Yes, it IS close enough.

Miami-Dade, a county where more than half the population is foreign-born, had never designated itself an official "sanctuary" area. But as of 2013, the county operated like one: That year, the county commission passed a bill forcing county jails to refuse requests to detain undocumented immigrants indefinitely. (The U.S. Department of Justice named Miami a "sanctuary city" in a 2016 report.)

It's unclear how much federal funding Miami-Dade could lose by fighting Trump — but the money was certainly a small fraction of the county's total, multibillion-dollar budget. The DOJ estimates Miami-Dade receives just $10.7 million annually from the Justice Department alone.

Some cities might not comply in the hopes their state might step up to the plate, like LA. Miami knows the state of fla will not replace Fed dollars withheld.

Yep.....NY, Chicago, L.A. for sure wont comply. Trump should send some undercover Feds to those cities, then bust them when they do the catch and release.

Did you see where Cuomo out of NY said to deport me. I was hoping he would say head butt me instead.

Someone should walk up and put the sign on his back, that says kick me.

Keep in mind, these are not the run of the mill illegals...

... these are the criminal illegals...

... the ones Obama focused on for deportation too.

Your right, it never declared itself a sanctuary city and it did share some information with federal immigration agencies. It did however have in place policies that are used in sanctuary cities but it is not a sanctuary city like Chicago or NY or LA.

Miami knows that if fed dollars are held back from Miami there would be no state dollars to fill the gap. Other sanctuary cities are relying on that. Like NYC is relying cuomo will give them state taxpayer dollars to fill the gap and LA and Chicago.

I predict the Justice Department, with an American Attorney General, will decide which cities are sanctuary cities. Cooperate with ICE or lose your funding. It really is that simple.

Can New York afford to bail out NYC? People Upstate already think NYC sucks up too many resources.

Ok, if that's the metric that will be used, then Florida is comprised of entirely sanctuary cities.

Yes, so that is the list the DHS has designated sanctuary cities, regardless of the city actually claiming that status. Kinda like how so many complain here about being labeled a terrorist or being placed on a watch list arbitrarily, and without any due process. I would never imagine the right would subscribe to such tactics.....

Thank you for your list of anti-American cities. This is the fruits of the poisonous tree of liberalism. The tree is being chopped down. Every federal department with discretionary funds will be evaluating where those dollars should be spent. I really like your list. It can be America's "Shit List." If you are on the list you won't get shit from American taxpayers.

I wonder how fast mayors will be doing all they can to remove themselves from your list?

I don't think it's arbitrary at all. Granted, these cities are not calling themselves by that label, but, if the shoe fits...and DHS seems to think it fits.

All of them -- and all other cities -- will have to take a good long look at whether they want to continue to continue to ignore the federal ICE detainees or not.

Truly, it's up to the individual cities, but Trump isn't going to make it easy for them.

Some states that were willing to enforce illegal immigration laws or get the feds to do it were crapped on by the feds. They would arrest a criminal and if it turned out they were an illegal alien the states or cities notified the feds like they were supposed to do. The feds would either refuse to pick them up or they would tell the locals to hold them and be reimbursed. Many times they got the run around while trying to collect (like Miami-Dade) or were underpaid. They couldn't hold them forever and the feds refused to let them deport the illegals themselves claiming it was the feds job to do that. It was nothing but a cluster f**k catch 22 merry go round. This has gone on through decades of establishment democrats and republicans. Cities and states were put in an impossible situation and if they tried to take measures themselves they were overruled by judges and the federal government and called racists by the media. People have been shocked that administration after administration has refused to act on this although it was always big in their campaign speeches. Good old John McCain loved to "go to the border" and get filmed talking tough and chumming it up with the border guards, promising them and us that things were going to change. Then after his election he went "liberal" on us and acted like he never heard anything like what he had said just a few months earlier. Trump comes along and tells people that the dems and repubs have been lying to them so why not give him a chance. It feels kind of strange that we were attacked by terrorists, have been fighting a never ending war against terrorism, have had to relinquish much of our privacy but the border still remains wide open where anyone from anywhere can come into the country. Now we have an administration who doesn't just talk the talk but walks the walk. The fed won't be part of the problem like it has been in the past and most Americans and states and cities are happy about that.

"If the shoe fits"? That will be an interesting position to have moving forward, considering the numerous times people complain about being labeled or grouped arbitrarily.

How do we know DHS is applying the label arbitrarily? I'm guessing they have some sort of numbers of refusals to enforce ICE detainers, per population, in making their assessment. I doubt they threw darts at a map and used that to label the many cities in question.

It also seems within reason to be able to monitor the number of ICE holds and deportations in comparison to the number of detainees issued.

So, I don't see an arbitrary label here. Either the cities do comply with the ICE holds and deportations or they don't.

Can New York afford to bail out NYC? People Upstate already think NYC sucks up too many resources.

I don't know if we can afford to bailout NYC, but we sure as hell don't want to
