View Full Version : Warning: Americans are getting skeptical of the president*

President Trump and his aides frequently invoke the will of the voters in advancing his hard-edged conservative agenda, from dismantling the Affordable Care Act and stripping away onerous government regulations to retreating on climate change and banning immigrants from seven terrorism prone countries.
But a new Quinnipiac University poll (https://poll.qu.edu/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=2428) released on Wednesday tells a different story. Just a few tumultuous weeks into the Trump presidency, a majority of Americans sharply disagree with him on many key elements of policy.
Related: Trump Plays the Fear Card as He Badgers Judges for Their Vote (http://www.thefiscaltimes.com/2017/02/08/Trump-Plays-Fear-Card-He-Badgers-Judges-Their-Vote?utm_source=msn&utm_campaign=related&utm_medium=178880)
“A litany of calls to ‘hold your horses, Mr. President,’” Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, said in a statement summing up the findings. “Americans want President Donald Trump to keep the regulatory reins on business, and voters call for a full stop to laying new pipelines full of oil. They are against taking the knife to Obamacare and opposed to lifting environmental regulations.”
According to the poll, a majority of voters surveyed nationwide (49 percent to 39 percent) are opposed to Trump’s promise to gut Dodd-Frank and other regulations governing Wall Street and businesses. And they say the new president should not decimate regulations and agreements designed to combat climate change, by a two to one margin.
Indeed, 72 percent of the voters surveyed said they were “very concerned” or “somewhat concerned” about the problem of global warming, which Trump once dismissed as a hoax perpetrated by China. Just 17 percent of voters believe the U.S. is doing enough to address the problem, while 59 percent say that “more needs to be done.”

I suspect that it depends upon whom you are polling. Some folks actually read.

Some other folks don't understand what Dodd-Frank is and why it was implemented to begin with. Putting banks back into the position where they can cause an international recession, if not a depression and then to listen to their simpering after it all goes pear-shaped saying that they are too big to fail - please America give me a bail-out. Meh.

Poll: Majority Supports Trump's Executive Orders on Sanctuary Cities, Refugees.....

It's time once again to play pick your poll. Let's start with the one Trump will like -- and not dismiss out-of-hand as "fake news (http://townhall.com/tipsheet/guybenson/2017/02/06/trump-tweetstorm-im-in-charge-and-all-unfavorable-polls-are-fake-news-n2282178)." A fresh Morning Consult/Politico survey (https://morningconsult.com/2017/02/08/trump-approval-rating-slides-despite-support-travel-ban/) measures majority or plurality support for every Trump executive order they polled. The three that garner a majority are withholding federal funding from sanctuary cities (55/33), temporarily banning travel (http://townhall.com/tipsheet/guybenson/2017/02/02/poll-most-americans-support-trumps-executive-order-on-refugee-pause-n2279441) for most people seeking to enter America from seven majority-Muslim nations (55/38), and suspending new federal regulations (54/33). Also popular are orders pertaining to the unraveling of Obamacare and construction of two pipelines delayed by the Obama administration:

https://morningconsult.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/170208_executive_order-1.png

Trump's job approval is underwater at (42/51), with most Americans holding negative views of his character and handling of major issues. One big exception: The economy, on which Trump is right-side-up by three points. A majority of men approve of the president's job performance; a larger majority of women disapprove. Issue by issue, it's striking how different the results are from the Quinnipiac and Politico surveys, with the former being much less favorable to Trump and Republicans overall. The Q-poll nevertheless finds strong approval (https://poll.qu.edu/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=2428) (+20) for Trump's selection of Neil Gorsuch for the Supreme Court, with a very large majority (+40) of respondents saying that Democrats should permit a vote on the nomination (even as most give a thumbs-down to Republicans' use of the Biden/Schumer Rule (http://townhall.com/tipsheet/guybenson/2016/02/22/video-biden-urges-obama-not-to-nominate-scalias-replacement-in-election-year-n2123261) against Merrick Garland. The left wing institutions in America just can't seem to come to terms with the election results. Not just the presidential election either. They expected to make big gains across the country. It didn't happen. They are just not able to cope with reality.

He like myself is tired of the banks getting bailouts while homeowners and the middle class get the bill.

Try this:

• Money laundering – It has been proven that the American Division of the HSBC bank did money laundering for Mexican drug cartels to the tune of $881 billion according to the Justice Department. The penalty to this bank for blatant corruption was $1.9 billion and the New York Times laments that HSBC was too big to indict. Nobody goes to jail at a time when an unemployed black person gets 10 years for robbing a minute mart.

In case you all forgot what happens when you put wall street types in charge: Yes we did it before and Trump is doing it in spades......

The "bailouts" were loans that have been paid back with interest. Interest that went into the US Treasury.

What kind of nitwit listened to "shovel-ready jobs" and the $831 billion stimulus and the "If you like your health insurance you can keep your health insurance, period," and the most secretive White House praising themselves for transparency and the idiot in the White House not being able to think of anything he did that was less than stellar. What kind of twit listened to eight years of lies, eight years of blunders, and eight years of racist drivel without feeling a little skepticism?

Liberals. They believe what they're told to believe.

The Obama Administration was a joke. Poor economics. Didn't do what he said. Wouldn't do any hard work of governing he just wrote executive orders. Here is what he was in summary:

Disaapointingly ordinary and maybe worse.

The Iran deal and mess he left the world in by running from it will go down as maybe the greatest failure in foreign policy ever.

Ask yourself this you pathetic defenders of Obama caring more about party than the team, how much did he pay the terrorists in Iran again? And what did we get?

AZJim:
"There will be more and more of this behavior; it is the companion to the hatred that Trump campaigned on. He brought out the worst in us."

Wrong, AZJim. I realize liberals have to blame someone since they have no sense of responsibility. I'm not surprised you had no problem with Barack Obama's mentor screaming, "God damn, America." You had no problem with President Obama saying, "I don't know what happened but the police officer was wrong." When the fool found out that the police officer wasn't wrong he held the cutesy "Beer Summit." I'm assuming Sgt. Crowley's superiors ordered him to attend.

So, for you, no matter what the liberals do. Assaults, arsons, looting, murder, it's all the fault of someone else. Must be handy.
