Interesting find on education levels. Probably why the Short-Fingered Vulgarian loves the poorly educated.

<snips>

Republicans trust Donald Trump. Everyone else trusts the media

That is the finding of a Quinnipiac University poll which shows a dramatic split between Republicans and other Americans when it comes to matters of trust.

Quinnipiac's survey found that 52% of voters trust the media more than they trust Trump, while only 37% said they trusted Trump more. Among Democrats, 86% said they trusted the media more than the president.

But among Republican voters, the balance is flipped: 78% said they trusted Trump more than the media, while just 13% said they trusted the media more.

The poll suggests that Trump's aggressive efforts to discredit the media over the last two years have had a profound effect not just on his base, but on Republican voters at large

"The media, so demonized by the Trump administration, is actually a good deal more popular than President Trump," said Tim Malloy, the assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

There is also a profound split between college-educated white voters and non-college-educated white voters, with the former trusting the media more (55% to 37%) and the latter trusting Trump more (also 55% to 37%).

"Do you trust the media" is a pretty dumb question. Cons around here trust DailyCaller and TownHall. Progs, Indies and Libertarians prefer headier material from NPR, Reuters or Al Jazeera.

So everyone distrusts SOME media - which means that the 52-37 spread would likely be much higher if their was more of a drill-down on WHICH media.

Fair however; any mainstream media should be viewed with a grain of salt.

I'm sure you can find pockets of coastal / urban elites and left wing ideologues who believe the media is honest and trustworthy.

Ok. So when you conduct this poll, make sure you do it in a region dominated by Democrats.

Based on the last election results I could find regions to poll where where 90% of the participants would show complete distrust for the media.

Liberals always trust polls which echo their views. The ones which don't, are attacked and dismissed as illegitimate.

Pay Attention ^ the poll clearly identifies and separates R and D responses.

Quinnipiac and Pew are both beyond reproach with polls and studies. They were at the top for accuracy in 2012 and 2016.

Want dishonestly - try Rasmussen.

My wife works for a polling company who is "beyond reproach with polls and studies" Any and all polls can and are controlled results depend more on how the questions are asked than what is asked. Then you throw in specific calling areas, times days of the week. It is a science, People rarely pay for a poll that does not support their position.......

A Purblind Press,
Unable To Admit Error,
Boycotts the President
February 21, 2017 <<<<<

What is utterly astonishing about the fierce contest between the national press and President Trump is that the press does not realize how despised it is by most Americans, and how richly, as a group (which contains many individual exceptions), it deserves to be despised.

For 18 months Donald Trump campaigned with great energy all over the country, swept most of the primaries, many by astounding margins against a large field of candidates, and made a point of denouncing the national media as biased, self-serving, and malicious myth-makers. He referred to them hundreds of times as “liars,” and directed the very large crowds that he drew to the press section, and his supporters shook their fists in unfeigned rage at the press gallery. Did the complacent, bemused national press think they were paid plants or that it was all a spoof?

Virtually all of the press opposed Mr. Trump, and after ridiculing his bid for the nomination as mad and an enjoyable occasion for an egotistical billionaire buffoon to make a complete ass of himself at great expense to himself and the profound mirth of the journalists, they lapsed into a slightly uneasy assurance, when he was nominated: It was a bit surprising that he demolished the Bush-McCain-Romney centrists, but the Clintons were unstoppable, his defeat was practically certain and a matter of national deliverance from evil and garish foolishness in the showdown with the invincible Hillary.

The tactics of the Democrats and their fellow travelers in the national press are to invent and amplify false stories, “fake news” such as the golden-shower fraud (the allegation that Trump organized a group of prostitutes to urinate in a bed in a Moscow hotel because the Obamas had once slept in it) and the fabrication that Trump had removed the bust of Martin Luther King from the Oval Office.

At one level, it is understandable that the press is fighting to defeat the man who has outed them as myth-makers complicit in the shameful misgovernment of the country for the longest such period in the country’s history. And the press’s discomfort is compounded by the decline of its principal outlets. All the newspapers and most of the television networks are struggling and losing audience for competitive and technological reasons and owing to the fragmentation of the news market.

That leaves the press, and the president’s elevation of his counterattacks on the “failing” New York Times, CBS, ABC, NBC, and CNN as “enemies of the people.” Provided that what is meant is that those outlets have been so slanted and malicious that they have misled the declining section of the country that takes them seriously and that this is inimical to the country’s democratic desire for an informed electorate, it is a justified statement.

The recent political coverage of those outlets has been a disgrace and the failure to realize that reveals the moral bankruptcy of most of the U.S. national press. “Enemies of the people” is no more meant to replicate the actions of the French Revolutionary Committee of Public Safety and Lenin’s Politburo, which used the expression, than “America First” was meant to incite the effectively pro-Nazi isolationism championed by Colonel Charles Lindbergh under that banner in between 1939 and 1941. The national press has failed the country badly, on balance, and are now fighting the retreating action side by side with the rejected Democrats, which is not their role......snip~
