Goldman Sachs says mining platinum from asteroids is a ‘realistic’ way for bankers to earn BILLIONS (https://www.thesun.co.uk/tech/3270708/goldman-sachs-unveils-realistic-plan-to-earn-vast-sums-of-money-by-mining-platinum-from-asteroids/)

Plus other metals and elements.

"While the psychological barrier to mining asteroids is high, the actual financial and technological barriers are far lower," the report said, according to Business Insider. (http://uk.businessinsider.com/goldman-sachs-space-mining-asteroid-platinum-2017-4)

"Prospecting probes can likely be built for tens of millions of dollars each and Caltech has suggested an asteroid-grabbing spacecraft could cost $2.6bn."

The bank added: "Space mining could be more realistic than perceived."

It is believed an asteroid the size of a football field could be worth up to £40 billion.

However, bringing that much platinum back to Earth is likely to crash the precious metal market - and probably the rest of the economy with it.

Earlier this year, NASA said it was planning a mission to an asteroid so valuable it could cause the world's economy to collapse.

The trouble is there are those that are way ahead of the banks to get there first. They may be enjoying the info goldman sachs provided right now

It might alter the economy for a while but the advances would more than balance it out. If you want to build something that's light and strong and lasts a long time titanium is a very good metal. If it were available in abundant supply it would of course be cheap and we could build everything with it. Bridges, aircraft, cars and truck and trains and houses and buildings and ..............
