I left Medina, Ohio yesterday morning (7th) around 4:45 a.m., in a driving snowstorm, took the 4-wheel drive truck b/c we had about two inches and drove to the gym in Akron. Today, I had a 9:00 in Cleveland and we still have snow on the ground in Akron and Medina.

We were in the 60's yesterday and I had a real spring fever day. Just thinking of reasons to stay outside . Today 70's but work calls.

People who work outside understand weather. The people who live and work in climate controlled building really don't. Weather has a movement and a repetitive beat that you get to feel when you work outside.

When I first came to fla, I would sit on my lanai with two tower fans blowing directly on me on high and I would have sweat running off me.

I never turned the heat on in fla. I kept the AC on 71. Now the heat is on 74 in the winter and the ac is on 75 and I have to actually exert myself to sweat.

Your body acclimates

I grew up in the 1940s, BAC, before air conditioning. I like talking about weather with cowboys, ranchers, construction workers, farmers. I was visiting with a Yankee who moved to Miami and said he moved for the weather. I laughed and said, "The weather sucks unless you're going from your air conditioned condo to your air conditioned car to the air conditioned mall and back again." He sat a minute and said, "That's about it." Most of the environmentalist I meet don't have a clue.

Most people I ask why they retired to fla, say to get away from ice and snow and high taxs and cost of living.

I was born and raised in Fl, I hate cold weather and love to sweat. Only when it gets above 90 with high humidity and no wind, do I get uncomfortable. Cold is painfull. Kin folk said "jed move away from there!"

Northern Wisconsin here where it gets cold and snowy. We know how to tough such things out. Wimps need not come here.

And 50 degrees can be cold or warm depending on the sunshine , the wind, the humidity and the task you are doing.
