These people are cracked, now they want anyone who disagrees with them listed as a hate group.

A liberal coalition on Thursday started a campaign to label social conservative organizations that oppose transgender rights as hate groups, ratcheting up the antagonism between opposing sides on one of America's most contentious debates.
The Eliminate Hate Campaign seeks to draw attention to groups it sees as extreme and hateful against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people, accusing them of hiding behind ostensibly Christian or family values.
Alarmed by a surge in reported hate crimes tied to the 2016 presidential campaign, the campaign will pressure the media to use the hate-group designation for about 50 organizations in the United States.
It also will encourage the public to oppose extremism and seek to diminish the prestige of groups it believes spread fear and lies about LGBT people.
Conservatives have promised to dig in for a long fight in the debate over whether transgender people deserve legal protection against discrimination and the right to use the public bathrooms of their choice.
Several of the targeted groups said they reject any hate designation as an attempt to silence them.
They also see transgender advocates as out of step with the public even as celebrities and the Democratic Party champion the transgender cause.
Among those singled out by the liberal coalition was the Alliance Defending Freedom, a self-described religious freedom organization that has sought to halt the expansion of transgender rights by arguing before school boards and in court.
"ADF doesn't have time to respond to organizations who do nothing more than call names, create division and incite violence across the country in order to raise money," spokesman Greg Scott said in a statement.
Peter Sprigg, spokesman for the Family Research Council, another of the targeted groups, said gender identity should not be protected from discrimination.

It is time to eliminate hate crimes. This hate crimes idea has always been foolish. Now it is also dangerous.

And transparently political.

I consider it discriminatory but I do not believe the issue is settled enough to start labeling groups as hate groups... unless they advocate violence or something.

My personal opinion isn't gospel and I don't need to force it on people.

The Ostrich mentality of the right is rather fascinating, many want flag burning banned but hateful treatment of a fellow human being isn't hate but something else. I'm sure most here have no idea how one manages hate, but our last elections demonstrated its power when it came to Mexican immigrants and Muslims. How you eradicate hate from the human soul is a rather complex endeavor given that religion is often used both ways. Love your neighbor sounds fine but can anyone find it.

Such is the way of the ultra lib. Anyone who disagrees must hate. The social cons are little better implying that anyone who disagrees with them has a below room temperature IQ .
Yet we've handed the country over to the Donkephant ruled by these two types for way too long.
Trump has made a couple of "over compenstion" moves of late. Including using a bigger bomb than any former preseident has used. Good fucking grief! The "Trump's a Donkephant " vs. "no he's different " balance sheet ain't lookin good right now. He may have too much grade school ego even for an American president. But I haven't completely given up yet. And we 100% know Hilary was a dyed in the wool Donkephant so it was worth a try.

Trumps bomb really has nothing to do with this thread. Liberals have gone to far and have hijacked the democrat party. It was inevitable its been going that way for awhile the last 8 years of obama finished it off.

Don't know about the other 49, but the Family Research Council is the epitome of slime, deception and hatred. Do some reading about them before you decide that they are some kind of victim here, or that the "hate group" label doesn't fit.

As for the posters who've gone off a tangent about "hate crimes" - different topic.

How would you compare the Southern Poverty Law Center with groups labeled as hate groups? Does the SPLC exist for any reason other than to label non-liberal groups as hate groups?

Is there a hate group in the U.S. bigger than the Democrat party?

It's a different topic because the article is about labeling certain organizations "hate groups", and enhanced or increased penalties for "hate crimes" has nothing whatsoever to do with that. Both topics contain the word "hate" - that's it.

I agree with that. The hate crime designation makes no sense. It's a symbolic gesture.
