Hmmm..

"Former Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) is on the list of candidates to replace James Comey..Bloomberg News reported (https://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2017-05-11/trump-said-to-consider-ex-congressman-rogers-for-fbi-director) earlier that Mike Rogers, a former Michigan Republican congressman, was also under consideration."

Have also heard Trey Gowdy could be under consideration.

Kelly??
Yup kind of sounds like quite a few senators want it to be her. I bet she could be confirmed easily. Question is would she want the job? She didn't support Trump.

At first blush, i like the Ayotte idea.

Am trying to imagine grandstanding theater we are going to be subjected to by Democrats at the Senate confirmation hearings. (With some of Trump's curious behaviors can't entirely blame them.)

But if the nominee is someone from their own Senate ranks maybe the hearings will be a little more civil. And Ayotte does seem pretty level headed.

That is a bonus.

Not sure how beholding the Director of the FBI is to the office of POTUS. As i recall the immediate superior to FBI director is the Attorney General.

Ayotte doesn't strike me as someone who is going to be putting up with a lot of crap from anyone.

No, she didn't support him. I think she was a Rubio girl, like I am. Trump did use her as the Gorsuch Sherpa. I miss Kelly being in DC. Met her many times and have a lot of respect.

Trumpf and Lil Jiffy will probably demand an oath of loyalty and allegiance.

Trump should look for a director who will de-politicize the office. I don't know who that would be, but such a person does exist. However at this point, I doubt that the position can be de-politicized.

Sally Yates would be a horrible choice. She would be a political / partisan hack in a position which should not be political.

To the constitutional restraints placed upon government?

No - the pledge will be to give up their independence and obligation to enforce the law, and do the bidding of Drumpf .. no matter.
