President Barack Obama said Friday he has dispatched 100 U.S. troops to central Africa to support a years-long fight against a guerrilla group accused of horrific atrocities. Obama said they were sent to advise, not engage in combat, unless forced to defend themselves.

In a letter to Congress, Obama said the troops will act as advisers in a long-running battle against the Lord's Resistance Army, and help to hunt down its notorious leader, Joseph Kony.

The first of the troops arrived in Uganda on Wednesday, the White House said, and others will be sent to South Sudan, the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Obama declared his decision to send troops as in keeping with the national security interests of the United States. The White House announced it in a low-key fashion, releasing the Obama notification and justification of the troop deployment that the president sent to congressional leaders.

Pentagon officials said the bulk of the fresh deployment will be of special operations troops, who will provide security and combat training to African units. The move raises the profile of U.S. involvement on the continent — and represents an apparent victory for administration officials who have argued for more robust intervention in humanitarian crises.....snip~

What is up with the left and these Democrats. Why are they not going after Obama with any of this. This is a Peace President? Were already over a Billion and a half of another with Libya Alone and we are not even the Major player.

Note The French are in the Ivory Coast. The UK in the Congo. The French is and was the problem in North Africa. Libya, Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia. Now they are sending SF Troops into the Sudan. Somebody jump up and call them out on this. The Sudan is splitting in two countries. The Chinese have all kinds of people down there. So to the Russians. What the hell is he trying to do. Weaken us down til we cannot do anything but protect our own borders. ::)

Then it mentions the Dems fears about security risks in Africa. We already have a small amount of Troops in Dhjibouti. (which is WHY Gadhafi will not break that way.) Now this is a major fuck-up for the US. We are stretched way to thin.

Allow me to elaborate.....these men will be put into a postion to defend themselves. This is a fact. Moreover we know how we Operate. To top it off the Media is not calling Obama out on this. The All Seeing EYE is focused elsewheres and as usual on anything that distracts the citizenry. This will mean more Security advisors.

These damn azz Democrats are going to pull another NAM with the Whole of the African Continent. For what? Why? To Help who gain control? There are to many guerilla armies roaming around Africa. What we going to label them all terrorists? Not to mention he has sent drones into Somalia recently. We will end up having every Drug Lord, Overlord, War-Lord, Pirates, and every damn Islamic extremist coming after us. Way moreso than in the Middle East. This is not good. All of you should be contacting your Senators and pitching a bitch. Don't matter political spectrum. One can see where this will lead and now is NOT the time. >:(

The Sudan is in conflict. Our guys start targeting anyone and they in return will target us back. Plus its not like we are recieved well except in Liberia.

The Lord's Resistance Army (also Lord's Resistance Movement or Lakwena Part Two) is a militant group with a syncretic Christian and Traditional African religious ideology. The group operates in northern Uganda and South Sudan.[4] The group used to operate mainly in northern Uganda and also in parts of South Sudan, the Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The LRA was formed in 1987 and until about 2007 it was engaged in an armed rebellion against the Ugandan government. It is led by Joseph Kony, who proclaims himself the "spokesperson" of God and a spirit medium, primarily of the Holy Spirit, which the group believes can represent itself in many manifestations.

A squad of U.S.-trained Guatemalan Special Ops soldiers set out into Congo's Garamba National Park, a longtime LRA refuge and the scene of the 2008–2009 Garamba offensive. Trained in jungle warfare and accustomed to surviving in the bush for long stretches, the Guatemalans were equipped with M-16s and the latest special-operations technology. Five LRA soldiers were killed and none of the Special Ops soldiers survived. According to one account, the commander of the Special Ops soldiers was beheaded. The battle, which lasted for several hours, included hand to hand combat. Reports put the U.N. dead at eight to forty. The LRA left the corpses in the jungle but took the weapons—including heavy machine guns and grenade launchers.[53]

Looks Like the UN and the US want a little payback on the LRA. Not to mention back in 2010 The US agreed to the split of Sudan. Problem is our Troopers will for sure have to engage this enemy. There is no doubt in my mind. That this will lead to an escalation of more troops on the ground.

Also Our people will have to engage the Child-Soldier. Whom these guys use and drug up. Moreover they have an adrenaline flow in killing Americans and Brits. note that was a Spec OPS team trained by us and with a significant amount of time.

On November 24, 2010, Obama delivered a strategy document to Congress, asking for more money to disarm Kony and the LRA.[55]

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni told U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Jendayi Frazer in September 2007 that 'Sudan, Sudan, Sudan, Sudan' was behind the rebellion's longevity. '[Museveni] said that even if the Khartoum Government could not supply the LRA at previous levels, he believed it was in constant touch with the LRA and smuggling supplies.'"[56]

On October 14, 2011, President Obama announced that he had ordered the deployment of 100 U.S. military advisors (with a mandate to train, assist and provide intelligence) to help combat the Lord's Resistance Army.[57] It has been reported that the bulk of the troops are from the Army Special Forces.[58][59] Obama said that the deployment did not need explicit approval from Congress, as the 2010 Lord’s Resistance Army Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act already authorized "increased, comprehensive U.S. efforts to help mitigate and eliminate the threat posed by the LRA to civilians and regional stability". The military advisors will be armed, and will provide assistance and advice, but "will not themselves engage LRA forces unless necessary for self-defense". The advisers will operate in South Sudan, the Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, subject to approval by those states. The military advisors will not operate independently of the host states. Human Rights Watch welcomed the deployment, which they had previously advocated for.[60] General Carter Ham, the head of US Africa Command, said last week that his best estimate was that Joseph Kony was probably in the Central African Republic, not located in Uganda.....snip

Obama signed the Order for Kony's Death back in 2009! With Congressional Bi-partisan approval. The whole time the Republicans were saying that they refused to work with him.

Is there any justification for these actions other than humanitarian? Any explanation at all from the higher ups in administration or seniors in Congress?

The UN was handling it before, let the UN continue to handle it. Send some more Guatemalan soldiers over there. Besides, I hear the UN finished their mission in Libya so now they have some time on their hands. ::)

Oil exist in the Sudan.....note the Chinese and Russians are on the other side of Sudanese. Probably in Uganda and Central Africa with the Oil. Resources. Gold, precious metals. Congo we know for sure which is the Brits play. Again this is a Civil War between Ugandans. Again this about Regime Change. Even tho Kony holds no place in a specific country. What they are also failing to mention he can raise up about 10k in Child Warriors alone. 500-9000 is of that tribe. The others are not. Children taken and brainedwashed and drugged to do his bidding. He uses the Mysticism and Voodoo Fear in helping to maintain influence over them. This is not good at all. >:(

At the same time we are leaving the world's largest oil supply in Iraq. After securing those fields so that companies like Shell, Exxon, Halliburton and others can get a piece of the pie while the U.S. people who paid for it all with blood and $$ get nothing.

At the same time we are leaving the world's largest oil supply in Iraq. After securing those fields so that companies like Shell, Exxon, Halliburton and others can get a piece of the pie while the U.S. people who paid for it all with blood and $$ get nothing.


Notice how Obama used the Congressional approval as his arguement to send in these Special Forces Troops from the US army. They took more time with the other Spec Ops from Guatemala. Now how much time do you think it iwll take them to train these people to fight and defeat the LRA. They will not have the resources for one. Two nor the Intel. Which they do not know where the fuck this guy is now. So tell me how this does not escalate into something further with our people. Where we are supposedly not having any major interests that affects our National Security.

Running around the world and killing bad guys Pen.....give it a break. We are not the Worlds Policemen. Who are we to say every country in the World needs to be a Democracy? Can't use the excuse of Humanitarian reasons only for the side one chooses. The Ugandans he was fighting were doing the same thing. Ethnic cleansing as well. So while the Western Propaganda machine tells one story. Then there is the other flip side to the coin. The LRA was going after any who went after their people the Acholi. Which means other Ugandans and other Sudanese aligned.

He is also not the only Warlord to use thousands and thousands of child-warriors all doped up. He has no problem sending them off to their deaths and does not care that they can be killed.

He even has them rub oil on them telling them it will deflect bullets. Again what Interests that are vital to National Security is cause for us to be there? Do you see anywheres in the Constitution that we are to involve ourselves into other Foreign Countries Conflicts all in the Good Name of Humanity? Decieving the world as to who we say is and isnt bad guy. Such will not keeping working. Already most of the African Continent is against us.

Libya is a fine example as the Rebel announce they will be a Theocratic government under Sharia Law. Problem with that little scenario is half the country is westernized. It is a gateway between East and West. Many like their modernization.

Got anything to say about the humanitarism going on in Yemen and Bahrain? While the Sunni committ genocide on the shia. Enslave and repress the Shia. The same very leaders Like Selah who we have given immunity to for the same damn thing we say Gadhafi and this guy is doing.

The Saudi gunning down unarmed Shia protestors thats humane right? Selah ordering airstikes on villages of women and children all because he can't find their men fighting him? Thats humane....huh?

This guy who leads this movement is totally Anti American. For everything the US and the UN does. He will extract a toll. if he cannot get to us.....he will go after those who are defenseless. As well as get help from Mercs from all over Africa. Especially Somalia and Tanzania. There were even Ugandan Protests to go and help Gadhafi agaisnt the UN and the US. The same very people who are saying.....yes. We need your help.

Trusting them could never be an option. Involving the US into Regime Change. That is not What the United States and what we stand for.....is about.
