Trump’s reversal allowing amnesty for Dreamers enrages conservative base (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/jun/8/donald-trumps-dreamer-approvals-rile-conservative-/)

The Trump administration has approved tens of thousands of temporary amnesties for illegal immigrant Dreamers, according to numbers released Thursday that underscore a major reversal for President Trump.

The decision has enraged the president’s conservative base, which hoped he would make good on his promise to revoke the policy, known in governmentspeak as DACA.

But immigrant rights advocates, who were harshly critical of Mr. Trump during the campaign, said he deserves some credit for defying his right wing and keeping the program intact.

The Trump Admin went against the far right and approved tens of thousands of amnesties for undocumented immigrants, reinforcing the DACA.

As Trump's favorability continues to drop (around 34% now), is this a move to appeal to those outside his base?

It could be. If he does what he said he was going to do he will be fine. If he doesn't, well, his Presidency buys time.

It looks like the immigration issue is over. Trump seems focused on infrastructure now. It will be expensive but a necessary government intervention.

I would not be so sure. However, at this moment it does look like President Trump is abandoning his base.

No. It is bad when the infrastructure label is nothing more than a payoff to unions to keep them afloat a few years.

President Obama lied. There were almost no shovel-ready jobs.

Sure there is, he wants to auction it off to the highest bidder so they can charge us tolls.

I dont think he has a choice, you cant deport the entire country and no one should expect that. What we should expect is stopping more illegals from coming here and deporting all the criminals and making changes to what they are entitled to here so they either actually do work or they have to leave.

It's not amazing that some members (who shall remain nameless) think mindless cynicism is intelligent let alone brave or interesting.

I don't think many Trumplings want government paying for infrastructure. Between this and Trump's support of amnesty, it seems clear that he knows the only way to get his approval up is to abandon his small, radical base.

Our immigration policy should suck in people that can help the US. Zero wards of the sate should be admitted.

And as another program, we can bring in seasonal workers who live onsite, pick fruit/etc. then go home after the season is over.
