If I disappear it's because I got electrocuted >:(

I have flipped every breaker but I can't turn off power to the bathroom to work on this light switch. I took the plate off but I don't want to go further without cutting the juice. Any ideas?

Flip your main breaker, that will shut everything off.

Only thing I can think of is to turn off the main until you install. :)

Yeah I didn't want to flip the main because I didn't want to lose all power to the house and reset all the clocks >:(

I forgot this house has a second panel -- it got an addition before we moved in. I found the right breaker on the second panel on the other side of the house and got the switch fixed.

All good thank you my Bruthas O0

I guess I should have logged in earlier, I am a master electrician..

if you can't cut the power .. cut the wire close to the switch and tape it off then finish removing the switch and install the new one. with the hot wire taped off you can protect yourself from shock until you hook up the hotwire..

by the way use a volt meter to find the hot wire first.

Thanks Lo!

That makes a lot of sense - that way I wouldn't have to cut the juice to the whole house.

I was using my voltimeter for running some phone line last weekend and couldn't find it this morning. Luckily I didn't need it.
