Assuming Pence resigns along with Trump to evade prosecution in the Russiagate Scandal, should President Ryan nominate a Democrat for VP or Bernie Sanders to help our nation heal?

Highly doubtful Pence will go down, my guess he is already having plans drawn up for his swearing in. That said, there was a time I wanted Ryan to run for President, but since the elections his actions have shown me that he is Not the man for the job. My guess is Pence will end up taking over before 2020 due to one reason or another, he will pick a moderate Republican for VP, someone that might be able to win in 2020, no way would he or Ryan would chose a Dem as their VP.

Maybe he'll give Rodham a sympathy nomination since she didn't have the competence to earn the office on her own.

She owes her recent political career to a man anyway so what the hell.

You are making an enormous assumption: i.e. that President Trump will "resign" because of this trumped-up scandal. (No, there is not any pun intended.)

This is surely the Democrats' wet dream: that they can force the resignation (or, alternatively, the impeachment, followed by the Senate's conviction) of President Trump.

In the first place, there is less than a one-percent chance that either might happen, in my opinion.

Larry Sabato--who leans center-left, and is a serious political analyst--has never even broached the possibility (such as it is), so far as I can tell: http://www.centerforpolitics.org/crystalball/

In the second place, those who favor this are actually favoring a civil war--whether they realize it or not.

Is this what you really want?

Or have you just not thought it through?

OOH! I smell the whiff of defeat. The stench is deplorable but that's what happens when trash in the White House isn't thrown out and is instead left to rot, until it's forcibly removed.

Due to this, it will never happen.

Can you give me a prediction as to when these resignations are going to happen?

Actually, Agent Zero has unwittingly exposed the motive of the psrtisan left. They don't care whether or not these accusations are true or false. They are just frantically trying to drive Trump from office.

I think their actions are setting a very disturbing and catastrophic precedent. It's possible that from now on, every president will be dealing with accusations of treason and articles of impeachment immediately following their Inaguration

Oviously the Democrats have never gotten over the impeachment of Bill Clinton.

But to answer your dumb question.... No. In the event that this happens, he should appoint a strong conservative who respects the constraints placed upon government by the US Constitution. I know that's a horrible idea to you.

Well, the headline to the article proclaims that Donald Trump could be the object of "possible" impeachment.

The article itself says that Donald Trump's presidency "could" be of short duration.
Yet you have managed to gloss over these qualifiers, and leaped to the conclusion that this is an inevitability.

And since you claim that you just "don't know" anything about Larry Sabato (which does seem strange, if you are a political junkie--as most people on these forums are), then you might want to try the Rothenberg/Gonzales Political Report: http://insideelections.com/search/results/23c80b8c74c9607ce1a9c67d7c37a152/

Actually that is not correct, yes it would be hard to get the Senate to agree to impeach without that, but there is no rule that a crime has to have been committed. The House could simply vote for it based on incompetence, if they had the Senate support they could technically remove a standing President, how that would sit with the People might be a different matter.

[I]t would be hard to get the Senate to agree to impeach without [evidence of high crimes or a misdemeanor].

Say what?

The Senate does not--cannot--"impeach" a sitting president.

If the House does so (by a majority vote), the Senate may try to convict (by a two-thirds supermajority).

Remember, please, that Bill Clinton was impeached (an action of the House), but never convicted (and never, therefore, removed from office).

It is a stupid thread. It is not worthy of "adult" responses. The only reason to respond to this thread is to make fun of it.

Unluckily for the OP, no adults are taking part.

The House presents their case and the Senate makes the final call. Yes, I know how it works, and yes they would have to agree to removal from office, your Point is what?

My point is that some people--actually, lots of people--confuse impeachment with removal from office. And they are not the same thing.

In fact, they are not even close--anymore than, say, eschewing that cheeseburger for lunch and losing 50 pounds are identical...

Assuming Pence resigns along with Trump to evade prosecution in the Russiagate Scandal, should President Ryan nominate a Democrat for VP or Bernie Sanders to help our nation heal?

Of course he should .. but he wouldn't.

Creepy Munster Kid is as out there as they come.

Perhaps he'd resurrect a greedy bastard more in line with himself.

Newt? :D
