What a week it was for Captain Chaos. Two more high profile departures setting two more records for shortest time on the job. Mooch comes unhinged. Congress hands him a sanctions bill that tie his hands. Gets slapped by the Boy Scouts of America for highly inappropriate comments and another ill-conceived speech to police officers now being condemned by just about every law enforcement leader in America.

I'm afraid to ask what's on his agenda for THIS week

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/police-departments-new-york-los-angeles-denounce-donald-trump-police-brutality-comment-suffolk-a7867206.html

Police departments across the US have criticised Donald Trump (http://www.independent.co.uk/topic/DonaldTrump)after he told officers not to be "too nice" with suspects in a speech which seemingly encouraged police brutality (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/donald-trump-long-island-brutality-police-suffolk-a7866071.html).

Law enforcement authorities from New York to Los Angeles have slammed the President's comments and experts have warned the remarks could encourage inappropriate use of force among officers.

The backlash came after Mr Trump gave a speech to police in Brentwood, New York. During his speech, Mr Trump suggested officers should not protect suspects' heads (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/donald-trump-long-island-brutality-police-suffolk-a7866071.html) when pushing them into police vehicles and his comments were greeted with loud applause and laughter by the audience of law enforcement officials.

As usual in these situations, he wasn't necessarily addressing the people in his immediate physical audience; he was mainly pandering to all the non-cops, cop wannabes and assorted other would-be tough guys among his supporters who have pretty much zero knowledge of what a police officer's job entails or requires. As usual, he comes across sounding more than anything like the guy on the barstool in the corner who has probably been over-served.

With so many worried about the debt, I wonder how they feel about the millions that will be lost in wrongful death cases after the families sue the federal government for advocating towards more aggression in arrests. It’s common knowledge that government lawyers settle most of the time because of their lack of ability.

To me, he's sounding more each day like one of the murderous strong-arm banana republic leaders he so clearly admires.

Yep - imagine a defense: "The Commander in Chief said it was okay".

That speech is likely to result in around 100 million in settlements courtesy of US taxpayers.

Thanks Trump

Cops shouldn't be able to defend themselves? If, they are met with violence, while trying to help someone, hell yeah, they should respond in kind. Why should they become the ones dead in the street, so another gang banger or drug dealer goes belly up, I prefer it that way, than more innocent people get hurt or killed.

Amiright @stjames1_53 (http://thepoliticalforums.com/member.php?u=1928)?
When I was in the Navy, I had an "appointment" for XO's mast for arriving late for watch. The guy in front of me was going to XO's mast for stealing money from another sailor. It was a bunch of bucks. I heard the XO through the door say, "Funny, he doesn't looks like a man that got caught stealing. Bring him back when he looks like a thief."
The MA went and got the sailor that was stolen from and gave the two of them a room for 3 minutes.
When they presented the thief before the XO, he looked like he got caught. I heard the XO through the door again saying, "Now, that looks like a man that got caught stealing!"
I also learned that a low profile means NO profile.
IF you don't want to have interaction with the cops, don't do it.....
What's so hard about staying out of trouble?
So, while I've got no particular love for some cops, most of them do serve a useful purpose. So, if you want to be a thief or murderer, you get what you deserve.
Amirite?

People are wrongfully arrested every day of the week.

Therefore it is simplistic to suggest that all one must do is obey the law.

Nothing wrong with putting those two guys in a room together - roughing up the suspect is a problem.

Thing wrong with your little scenario is that you want them "roughed up" before they have their day in court. As for staying out of trouble and not having to deal with LEO's, for most it usually works fine, they tend top leave me alone but I know others that have done nothing more than have a certain look that have been harassed and roughed up for no actual reason than that the LEO was having a bad day. Clue: we are a Nation of Laws, those laws presume a person to be innocent until proven in a court of law to be guilty, that means that just because someone is arrested does not mean they are guilty of anything. You may not know this but people are arrest and even go to trial where they drop the charges or the person is found Not Guilty. Yes, I am sure you will go on about the court system not being tough enough, and inn some cases you are correct, but just sentencing everyone that is arrested is no longer Justice. Think about what this Nation was Founded on and is supposed to represent, when there is no justice for our fellow Citizens then there is no Justice for you and yours either.
