Sixteen years ago, a Seattle-based company said it planned to move its headquarters to the city that would make it the best deal.
The company was Boeing and it ultimately chose Chicago over finalists Dallas and Denver.

Now, another Seattle company, Amazon, wants to open a second headquarters (http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/09/07/549255564/amazon-set-to-build-a-second-hq-and-cities-say-pick-me) elsewhere in North America. This time, Denver's leaders are determined to avoid a repeat of the experience with Boeing.

At stake: as many as 50,000 high-paying jobs and billions of dollars' worth of investment in the already fast-growing region.

Amazon's list of requirements (https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/G/01/Anything/test/images/usa/RFP_3._V516043504_.pdf) includes a highly skilled workforce, major universities, an international airport and mass transit — all ingredients that Denver has. Just as important, Amazon says it is looking for "a high quality of life" for its employees.

This "lifestyle" typically doesn't make for a great "work ethic" , as a rule....

Old stereotypes die hard apparently. Meanwhile Colorado's unemployment is 2.3%.

Nashville is the best choice.

It isn't a "stereotype"; it is an honest assessment of the reality of the situation. Dope, and its effects, are nothing new.

Pot shouldn't be on the high priority list of considerations, taxes and regulations should be.

Yet Colorado has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country. How do you explain that?

Amazon does not want a place with low unemployment. They would have to pay that much more to get employees. They basically need 1M population cities with room to drop their gigantic facility in there with access to ports and airports. That isn't Denver. In addition, while not stated, everybody assumes they are looking no further west than Chicago.

It was kinda "tongue in cheek"...

Takes twice as many stoners to do the work of people with clear heads. And much of the work in in the Munchie Industry...

Do you have any kind of link to point to to prove your contention? Otherwise it's just a wives tale.

Fair point.

Why do I need a link to belabor the obvious?
I'm not an "old wife", but I have been around daily dopers since the 60's, (was one), and understand how hilarious the original "legalize marijuana" effort being called the "Marijuana 'INITIATIVE' " truly is.

Pot coats (slows down) the synapses, wrecks short term memory, both of which are NOT "good things" in terms of mental function. Why it's called " being stoned" instead of "being sharpened up"....

Walmart as an example proves you right here. Bentonville, Arkansas in the middle of absolutely nowhereville USA.........our organizatons partners with Disney and Walmart amongst others for corporate training, Bentonville in the middle of nowhere is a hub in the middle of several large metro areas, I would think Amazon is thinking alike.

Because it's not only not obvious. It's false. But now I think you're moving the goalposts. One isn't allowed to smoke weed at work anymore than one is allowed to drink. Are you saying if you smoke weed one is permanently "stoned"?

1st one - Talks about heavy use in kids. That's already illegal and alcohol has the same effect.
2nd one is about "smokers" not about weed.

3rd one is another study about using weed at a young age.

4th one is yet another study on the effects of smoking weed at a young age.

None of these studies are relevant to the assertions that were made.

All are relevant, except the smoking, sorry pasted wrong link, as they all indicated that it does harm the brain and it's functions, It just does more damage to younger people.

You state "One isn't allowed to smoke weed at work anymore than one is allowed to drink. Are you saying if you smoke weed one is permanently "stoned"?" One isn't allowed to use it at all according to federal law, so your argument is saying that they won't use it because it is a work rule? They are already ignoring the law so why do you think they would follow a rule?

lol OK.

New testimony (http://www.fastcompany.com/3038285/the-weirdest-new-work-trend-getting-high) argues that marijuana use makes creative workers more productive, diverging from the usual findings that show cannabis consumers get distracted while doing mundane, unmotivated work.
