President Donald Trump is leaning toward nominating Alex Azar, a former pharmaceutical industry executive and George W. Bush administration official, to serve as Health and Human Services secretary, according to two White House officials.

If chosen, Azar would replace Georgia Republican Tom Price, who resigned in September after POLITICO reported that he spent more than $1 million in taxpayer money on private and government planes for travel.

One official said Trump had signed off on Azar, but another cautioned that the pick wouldn’t be final until the White House makes a formal announcement. A third Trump administration official confirmed that Azar has been shortlisted for the job.

Big Pharma is precisely the industry (among others) that is helping to break our healthcare system, but meh, why not make one of their former executives our health secretary? We already made a former Goldman Sachs executive Secretary of the Treasury. Cronyism is just a thing with our government, has been for awhile now, just let all the Cookie Monsters guard the cookie jars.

Fits right in. He can hang out with Pruitt from the EPA.

It is a little bit alarming some of the poor matches Trump has made. This one is pretty freaking crazy if it turns out to be true.

How surprising, a captain of industry brings in other fellow captains. Leaping from the frying pan into the fire. I don't understand why people think that there is a parallel between running government and running industry. The latter caters to shareholders and the former is supposed to cater to the people. The interests of the people and the interests of industry are not necessarily the same.

Unfortunately the same sentiment was absent when Bammy surrounded himself with an activist cabinet.
