Should have hung him by his neck until very very dead

A man convicted of running a child prostitution ring was sentenced to 472 years in prison — the longest sentence for a human trafficking case in U.S. history, according to news reports.

Brock Franklin of Colorado was found guilty at a sentencing hearing Tuesday in Arapahoe County. He was sentenced to almost five centuries behind bars— four times the minimum required sentence, reported KUSA (http://www.9news.com/news/crime/the-tough-ones-are-us-women-colorado-pimp-gets-400-year-sentence/493742788). Four others have already been sentenced for their involvement in the crimes.
Franklin’s defense team asked for the minimum sentence of 96 years, the news outlet said.
Franklin was indicted in 2015 for preying on young women and girls, often using drugs to manipulate them into lewd acts as part of a child sex trafficking ring, records show.

According to Denver KDVR (http://kdvr.com/2017/11/21/colorado-child-sex-trafficker-sentenced-to-largest-human-trafficking-sentence-in-u-s-history/), the girls had to meet a daily quota. Franklin forced the children to have sex with him and would also sell their services online.

Franklin was found guilty on 30 of 34 counts that included human trafficking, sexual exploitation of a child, child prostitution, kidnapping, pimping of a child, and racketeering. Charges of distributing marijuana and assault with a deadly weapon were later dropped, reported the Denver Post. (http://www.denverpost.com/2017/11/22/brock-franklin-colorado-sex-trafficking-sentence-longest-in-history/)
During the sentencing hearing, prosecutors read letters from victims who say they are still battling PTSD, anxiety and depression.
“I miss myself, my confidence, my laugh. I miss my happiness,” she said “The tough ones are us women. The prison time [the defendant] will serve does not compare to the damage he has caused to these women or myself.”

Why would the defense ask for a minimum term of 96 years when it's obvious he'll die in prison anyway?

He's going to be pretty old by the time his sentence is up.

A strong case to incorporate torture into capital punishment. Instead, taxpayers are stuck with a lifetime bill for what should be, a dead man.

Child sex offenders usually do not "live out" long natural lives in prison...thankfully.

Depends on state but some states, on good behavior, you get out on parole have served even less than 1/4 of the time.

But trafficking is a big political thing these days so they're sending a message.

Actually, it's cheaper than executing them, believe it or not. There's a whole process you have to go through to legally execute someone and apparently it's very costly. Executing people is something we in this country (though not here in Vermont where we have no death penalty) do for visceral satisfaction, not to save taxpayer money.

Formally, I don't believe in the death penalty. However, if someone of this nature did just happen to accidentally die, you wouldn't catch me shedding a tear.

And that is a problem, when the evidence points to 100% guilty, do the deed.

What's the price of a bullet? :D

I have no doubt that the cost of execution is so high because of those who are against the death penalty.

Hanging is far too humane. I have much more graphic, pain-consuming ideas for such filth.

One can only hope that each year is 100 times more degrading and painful than the one prior.

Is that him? Not an ounce of humanity in his dead eyes. He deserves nothing remotely humane.

Would you torture a dog that bit someone? No. Swiftly remove him from society and move on.

Dogs don't subject children to any abuse... Especially sexual abuse.

Do dogs organize and plan the abuse of children? Do dogs plan and organize the disappearance of someones precious child to be abused for the sick pleasure of other dogs?

Frankly, I'm appalled that you would lessen this to being on par with a dog bite.

I've been molested. I've been bitten by a dog. Which one do you think gives me nightmares? Which one do you think I'd rather not be in the room with?

I wasn't intending to equate the two acts, but rather the two animals committing them. This criminal is a rabid animal. Put him down.

Torturing people is bad, and not only for the victim. Unless the torturer is a complete psychopath it is torture for them as well. I can see a case for getting information needed to save lives but for revenge? We as a society really don't want it to go down that path.
