Of course the left and the femnists are hating on her for those statements but she makes a very valid point. After the first 40 known victims of Harvey Weinstein and ALL of hollywood knew what he was, how did 50 or more women put themselves in the position to be his victims also.

Pamela Anderson sparked a firestorm of criticism Friday after telling Megyn Kelly in an interview that alleged victims of Harvey Weintein’s sexual assault could have done more to avoid being victimized.

The 50-year-old former Baywatch star appeared on Megyn Kelly Today Thursday, where she told the NBC host that Weinstein’s alleged predations were “common knowledge” in the industry. Weinstein has been accused by more than 90 women of sexual harassment or assault, including at least ten women who claim the disgraced movie mogul raped them.
“It was common knowledge that certain producers or certain people in Hollywood are people to avoid, privately,” Anderson told Kelly. “You know what you’re getting into if you’re going into a hotel room alone.”
“Don’t go into a hotel room alone,” she continued. “If someone answers the door in a bathrobe, leave. These are things that are common sense, but I know Hollywood is very seductive and the people want to be famous. Sometimes you think you are going to be safe with an adult in a room. I don’t know where this security comes from, but somehow I dodged it all.”

I have a friend who was a male actor and he said that many men, straight or not, in order to advance their careers, they had to have sex with the gay male producer in order to get the part.

It is the culture of Hollywood. Perhaps that will change now.

Pamela Anderson has never been considered a beacon of intelligence, but at least she demonstrates basic common sense........

She will be vilified for these statements.. I am totally against any sexual abuse, harrassment but to try and make me believe ALL women have no culpability is absurd.

Women lie as much and as often as men.

So, she filmed an episode with a dumb-ass she married. She's not a smart woman, but she seems to be able to choose her sexual partners for herself.

Chose to , not had to. There are other careers , people change careers all the time.

Facts matter. How many women that you have sex with want to record your lovemaking?

Tahuyaman

Hollywood is ultimately about producing films which make money. They want their movies to feature actors and actresses which give them the opportunity to attract more viewers. Claiming one needs to have unwanted sex with some A-hole to get a part is an excuse.

Let's ask the women. How many of the women on this site initiate recording your sexual acts with your lovers? Or is it the man who usually wants a recording?

Women make mistakes, but that doesn't make them responsible for the actions of a predator. Sure, there are some "common sense" ways to avoid being more vulnerable to be attacked but that doesn't remove the ultimate blame from the person who commits the crime.

Anderson's point was that this behavior on the part of some powerful men was well known and could be avoided without damaging their career if one tried.

That might be possible, but it is not like Pamela Anderson ever rose above Baywatch. When was the last time she had a role? She was successful at what she did, but does she know what actually happens on the set of major films where there are "big wigs" like Weinstein?

Women have forever, used their vaginas to attain any number of favors. This is the dirty little secret that some but not many women have admitted publicly. If a gross woman were to answer the door naked or masturbate in front of me, it would be up to me to turn on my heels or stay and partake of the debauchery. That would be on me until a lawyer said we could make money on it years and years down the road.

Just as @Peter1469 (http://thepoliticalforums.com/member.php?u=10) said, Anderson's comments are not received well by some in the progressive world.

That has nothing to do with it. This isn't a left/right issue.

It takes one negative comment by an influential person to fuck up your reputation in many settings, and it would seem especially applicable in Hollywood. If an influential person invites you somewhere, like a bar or whatever, you're probably going to go and think it will be uncomfortable if you don't like them. You don't expect them to assault you. And young actresses may be particularly at risk because they don't know the rumors or whether the rumors are completely true. Members on this forum have questioned the validity of accusations, fair enough by the way, and people hearing rumors about someone might treat it the same way - could be true, could be false, could be sour grapes, could be an exaggeration...

It is more complex than Anderson is acknowledging. Her employment history in the industry is not extensive.

what do you think about her comments on this issue?

I think she's being a touch ignorant on the issue and the reason I say that is because she should know that not everyone is as street smart as she may have been; in particular some young men and women are very naive when they go to Hollywood or other media centers trying to gain access to the industry and are taken advantage of by unscrupulous perverts. They get caught off guard and are not sure how to react to advances made to them. Maybe I'm reading it wrong but she appears to be a bit standoffish on the issue.

I suppose you could make that argument and could be right.

I met her in a club in Key West, where my then-band was playing in 1989, when she was a Labatt's spokesmodel, on her way to Hollywood, (obviously), taking a quick vacation.

She is actually a pretty shrewd character. Her image is entirely calculated, based on what she observed in American showbiz.

Much like I have every right to go into the inner city talking trash and flashing cash. When I get beat up and robbed , it's still the robbers fault . But I'd rather not get beaten ad robbed than to be "a righteous victim" who WAS beaten and robbed.
