I'm guessing we'll never know. At present, there's no reason to think that inter- or transgalactic communication is possible -- especially, in our case, in consideration of the likelihood that Homo sapiens is in process of closing its own little window on the cosmos. (The lesson of geological history: all species go extinct.)
