It's amazingly simple. It costs nothing. Yet many oppose it even in the name of freedom.
As government grows, economic freedom shrinks. As evidenced by the Fraser Institute’s report “Economic Freedom of North America 2012,” more economic freedom leads to a higher standard of living and more liberty. Yet the converse is also true, and as economic freedom decreases, people become more dependent on their ever-growing government. What’s the solution? Allow the government less power over markets and people. As Professor Anthony Davies of Duquesne University writes in his article for Townhall.com:
“Our nation suffers from a political cancer. The cancer feeds on power, replacing the rights and responsibilities accorded free people with the restrictions and entitlements accorded children. This cancer methodically destroys markets and personal choice, leaving in its wake people beholden to a government that tells them whether they may work, what they may buy, and what they will pay.”
