I've seen this all before. The details have changed but that's all. We got through the 60's and we'll get through this. The hateful rhetoric will go back to the extremes. Policy is going to change as it did then. In the end it will work out. Not everybody will be happy or get what they want but we'll get by.



In the 60's there were such goofy ideas as giving everyone ten votes to split as they chose. It was in hope that more blacks would be elected. It was as stupid as it sounds. There was still Jim Crowe running things "always" and that was destroyed.Busing to get a balance didn't work and it faded away. White only provisions in deeds was tossed out.

There are goofy ideas now and there always will be. Time usually gets rid of most of them. I don't see any harsher rhetoric now than then. Important issues tend to get settled in a reasonable way eventually.
