Justice Kennedy to retire (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/19/us/politics/anthony-kennedy-retirement.html)? Check out the New York Times. (I don't pay for their crap and can't get into their paywall.)

If Trump can get another American on the court he is done so far as success goes.

I can read, still under quota for month.

It's rumors. He's 80 something. If he's moved right far enough, letting Turmp pick his successor could be a motivating factor. This study says he's a moderate conservative and might: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3107788

This would be HUGE for America.

if Trump could replace Kennedy with a justice that is a solid conservative rather than having to guess how Justice Kennedy feels that day.

It could really change the direction of this nation for the foreseeable future.

One cannot be a moderate conservative. A moderate is a liberal with no balls.

Good. I'll be interested to see who the next SCOTUS pick from Trump might be.

Depending on the make up of the Senate, the next pick should be a shoo-in. If the democrats retake the Senate, then all bets are off. This coming election should be interesting to say the least.

Yes, that is what the article and studies show, is justices near retirement watch the Senate to decide when to do it. If Kennedy is conservative enough, he'll retire sooner than later.

Ginsberg, otoh, will never retire.

Ginsberg (no offense madame Justice) will most likely die while still a justice and likely be carried out in a coffin as will a few others who cannot let go

Sooner is better than later. She is an example of why judges and justices must be term limited.

The Dems can't take the Senate. Simple math. They'd have to win 28 of 34 seats. Not going to happen.

Trump does seem to believe that the federal courts need to be filled with people who respect constitutional principles. It would be a good thing to get another solid constitutional conservative on the Supreme Court.

The Court was the one reason I voted for Trump. Keep the constitutional boundary lines that the founders established. Let us continue to bicker within them and turn them over to our grandchildren. Getting another one from the Federalist Society would be huge. Getting the Old Gray Mare to go would be monumental.

I think that they could. I'm not predicting that they will. Things are changing. It is becoming more difficult to predict the future based on history.

New rumors: Supreme Court Justice Kennedy retiring this summer, GOP senator says (http://www.syracuse.com/us-news/index.ssf/2018/03/supreme_court_justice_kennedy_retiring.html)

Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy will retire this year, according to a Republican senator.

Politico reports Sen. Dean Heller (R-Nev.) said in a speech last week that he expects the 81-year-old justice to step down this summer.

"Kennedy is going to retire around sometime early summer," Heller said. "Which I'm hoping will get our base a little motivated because right now they're not very motivated. But I think a new Supreme Court justice will get them motivated."

According to The Hill, Kennedy, who was appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1988, is considered the most pivotal justice on the U.S. Supreme Court and is often casts the tie-breaking vote in contentious decisions.

Kennedy, considered a conservative judge, has been rumored to be contemplating retirement for months. The New York Times reports most justices typically step down under presidents from the same political party as whomever appointed them, as "deciding when to step down from the court is not a judicial act."

Reagan was a Republican and President Donald Trump was the GOP nominee in the 2016 election. Trump currently has a Republican-majority Senate and House, but if Kennedy retires a battle is expected over who will replace his seat.
