Get ready for our meager tax break to be eaten alive by rampant inflation.https://www.politico.eu/article/trump-trade-war-issues-new-trade-threat-to-eu/
The US president urges EU to drop trade barriers or face taxes on imported cars.By JAKOB HANKE 3/11/18, 2:17 PM CET Updated 3/11/18, 2:35 PM CETU.S. President Donald Trump has warned EU countries that he will further increase tariffs unless they lower theirs.Trump last week confirmed he would slap additional duties of 25 percent on steel and 10 percent on aluminum imports. In a new tweet from Saturday, he now offered Europe a way out of the tariffs, combined with a threat to tax even more goods.“The European Union, wonderful countries who treat the U.S. very badly on trade, are complaining about the tariffs on Steel & Aluminum. If they drop their horrific barriers and tariffs on U.S. products going in, we will likewise drop ours. Big Deficit. If not, we Tax Cars etc. FAIR!,” the president tweeted.World Trade Organization rules ban countries from increasing their tariffs, but Washington has argued the hikes were justified under an exception for national security.European leaders have warned that Trump’s trade strategy could trigger a global trade war and would hurt the U.S. economy. In another tweet earlier this month, Trump said that “trade wars are good, and easy to win” and offered a radical idea to cut America’s trade deficit: “When we are down $100 billion with a certain country and they get cute, don’t trade anymore — we win big. It’s easy!”

The EU is currently considering tariffs on US goods that could cripple our economy. Especially the economies of Red States.https://www.politico.eu/article/trump-trade-war-tariffs-on-bourbon-harleys-and-orange-juice/
Trade wars: Tariffs on bourbon, Harleys and orange juice? How the rest of the world could retaliate against Trump and Republicans on trade.By DOUG PALMER AND ADAM BEHSUDI 3/2/18, 7:10 PM CET Updated 3/2/18, 7:18 PM CETPresident Donald Trump declared Friday that “trade wars are good, and easy to win.” But trade experts predict something much messier — a series of tit-for-tat retaliations aimed at the heart of American agriculture and manufacturing.A counter strike from the rest of the world would likely target products from politically sensitive Republican-run states, including include tariffs on Harley-Davidson’s made in Speaker Paul Ryan’s district; new duties on bourbon made in Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s home state of Kentucky; and duties on orange juice from Florida — a critical swing state.

He doesn't care, all he wants is to take attention off the fact that he and his family are about to face criminal charges.

We have been in a trade war for years. They charged us to sell to their countries while we didn't. It makes no sense to keep playing their games and the war they had on our products. Either free trade both ways or match what they have been doing for years. No one here would work for a company 40 hours a week and then they say you owe them money. But you expect our government to keep doing so.

See the left's ongoing ignorance of commerce. The EU ALREADY taxes our goods at ten times what we do theirs. They'll just hurt themselves, and they know it.

We should make more stuff here.

The international treaties had legal means to seek redress of violations. When the US is the plaintiff the court tended to ignore our concerns.
