View Full Version : So, trump is broke?

Why did trump need months to repay a mere $130,000?
Wouldn't any self respecting millionaire just write a check for the $130k? Much less a billionaire?
I'm not the only one who noticed this.

I am worth about two million. I could not write a check to cover $130 K without selling stocks or bonds.

Trump's misrepresentation to Forbes indicates that the perception of his wealth is important to him.
Most billionaires are fairly transparent with their wealth and it can be measured fairly accurately. With Trump there seems to be a lot of ambiguity.

That's great, but Trump claims a net worth of 10 billion (probably closer to 3). Anyone with that kind of money should have at least a few hundred K on hand for unexpected expenditures.

This indicates you know very little. Trump is a builder who has much of his wealth in the form of buildings and real estate. My home is worth around 2/3rds of a million dollars. But I cannot write a check based on it.

Trump owned, Trump Plaza Hotel casino, World Hotel and Casino, Trump Marina Hotel Casino and the Trump Taj Mahal.
People own Casinos because they can skim millions non taxed, no one can audit a casino with any accuracy, its impossible.
Trump made many millions per year from those casinos for decades before Atlantic city slowed down.
I worked in Trump Plaza as a security Supv and that casino was FULL 24 hrs a day 7 days a week.
I dont know if trump is broke or not, but he made a fortune just in atlantic city through out the 80s 90s and early 2000s. That doesnt take any other of his interests into consideration.
During the Campaign Bloomberg contradicted trumps claim that he was worth over 4.5 billion. Bloomberg said he was worth a little more than 3 billion, If that was accurate he couldnt possibly be broke less than 2 yrs later.
I think this is more about some people wanting him to be broke.

You're comparing 2 million to 3 plus billion. If we extrapolated your cash flow to Trumps, he would have much more than $130K on hand.
If one of Trumps properties needed a new chiller or any major repairs, it would cost far more than $130K. If Trump doesn't have $130,000 in cash on hand, he's not a responsible property owner and isn't managing his wealth properly.

A smart person does not hold cash any longer than is necessary. Once construction is completed I will put my cash back into stocks and bonds. I only hold enough cash to pay my monthly bills. Granted, I keep enough cash on hand to pay about twice my monthly bills but my monthly total is not that large.

Of course your comments would be welcomed on any Canadian forum.
We welcome diversity despite the laws of our country which are designed to save lives rather than destroy them.
Which incidently is why we support a Prime Minister who puts the country's interests ahead of his own.
Your PM is a panty-waisted little moron. You whole country doesn't amount to much.

Every poster must also follow the forum rules. And telling another poster that their comments belong in the trash heap simply because they are Canadian is clearly belittling them, which is against the rules.
Is that like belittling posters because of their age?

Why did trump need months to repay a mere $130,000?
Wouldn't any self respecting millionaire just write a check for the $130k? Much less a billionaire?
I'm not the only one who noticed this.

Apparently there has never been any actual proof that tRump is a billionaire either.
Well he owns a lot of stuff from buildings to golf courses so his net worth is probably isn't zero. the slow repay probably had to do with him trying to stay disconnected from Stormy.
But if he is broke don't worry, rich people don't go broke in the same way ordinary people do. they can go bankrupt and still live a jet set lifestyle.

Actually, I believe that the term, "delusional ideologue," would well fit those who despise President Trump. (They do not merely disagree with the man's policies; but they despise him, personally.)
I think that there is a term for this phenomenon; TDS, for short. (That is short for Trump Derangement Syndrome.)

I've also levelled a variety of substantive criticisms against Trump. Those aren't criticisms of the US, but rather criticisms of her president.
Let us be candid, shall we?
Donald Trump did not become president by mere fiat. He became president because of the will of the American people.
So a "criticism" (really more like a "nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah") of Donald Trump is, tangentially, precisely that toward the American people.
True, you may argue that he did not receive a plurality of the popular vote--just under 63 million, as compared to Hillary's nearly 66 million--but he did receive a plurality in those swing states that really mattered, as concerning the electoral vote.
Hillary just received a surplus in deep blue states, such as California, New York, and New Jersey. Trump was much more efficient, by winning narrowly in many states.

Paying off a 6% mortgage is smart when you only get a 3% return. Paying off a 6% mortgage is dumb if you can get a 8% return.
There is another way. And a better way, I think.
My late wife and I got an amortization schedule in the late 1980s, and did principal-only payments (in addition to the amortized monthly payments, which were required).
This saved us many tens of thousands of dollars in interest charges. (Perhaps to gazillionaires, that may be pocket change. But to us, it was real money.)
Note: The way a mortgage is amortized, one is paying mostly interest at the beginning, and mostly principal at the end. So an entire month's payment could be nullified, early on, for as little as two or three dollars.)

Yes of course but wouldnt you admit that there are many possible reasons for the delay.
Believing Trump is broke is pure wishful thinking. Like all very rich men conservative and liberal they hide and bury money in many places to avoid taxs.
During the campaign trumps wealth was dug into by many sources, bloomberg being the number 1.
Trump is a billionaire period, why he didnt pay the 130,000 right away is his mystery, there is no way any of us can know

My guess is that Trump cannot bring himself to admit that he has made a mistake. So he will use intermediaries to cover settlements he believes cannot be traced back to him.
In other instances, when he is sued for damages and loses, he probably doesn't pay at all relying on the claimant having to bring a further case to enforce the judgement.
Even then, he probably doesn't settle, then relying on the claimant giving up the claim because the fees involved might well exceed the settlement offered or ordered.

I do find it simply hilarious that liberals are truly outraged that they no longer have full control of the electronic news media. (CNN is center-left; and MSNBC is even further to the left. But if a center-right network comes into existence--and, even worse, if it is hugely successful--well, that is an absolute outrage, according to leftist thinking.)
