Four Democratic candidates backed by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) won primary elections (https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/pennsylvania-dsa-major-primary-wins-state-house_us_5afbba0fe4b06a3fb50bb5d7) for legislative seats in Pennsylvania on Tuesday.

In the Pittsburgh area, Summer Lee and Sara Innamorato, Democrats who are both members of the DSA, won primaries for state House Districts 34 and 21.

Lee and Innamorato defeated state Reps. Paul Costa and Dom Costa, both Democrats. They do not have Republican opponents in the general election.

Costa congratulated Lee on her victory, telling the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (http://www.post-gazette.com/news/politics-local/2018/05/15/Paul-Costa-Dom-Costa-Summer-Lee-Sara-Innamorato-incumbents-lose-state-House/stories/201805150126) that her campaign had done a better job getting people out to vote."

"They energized a lot of people, and they showed up at the polls,” he told the outlet.

In Philadelphia, Democrats Elizabeth Fiedler and Kristin Seale won legislative primaries for House Districts 184 and 168. Fielder does not have a GOP opponent in the general election, while Seale will take on Rep. Christopher Quinn.

Stay tuned to see how well they do in the next elections.

One would think there'd be criticism from liberal Democrats who disavow any association with far-left socialism/Marxism.

http://www.dsausa.org/about_dsa: "The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest socialist organization in the United States."

http://www.dsausa.org/introduction_to_marxism: "In this period of continuing global economic crises, the question of an alternative to capitalism is increasingly being asked. Marx’s analysis of the workings of capitalism as a system provides a basis for thinking about both the political economy in which we live and act and the possibilities of change."

Back to their about:

At the root of our socialism is a profound commitment to democracy, as means and end. As we are unlikely to see an immediate end to capitalism tomorrow, DSA fights for reforms today that will weaken the power of corporations and increase the power of working people. For example, we support reforms that:

decrease the influence of money in politics

empower ordinary people in workplaces and the economy

restructure gender and cultural relationships to be more equitable.

We are activists committed to democracy as not simply one of our political values but our means of restructuring society. Our vision is of a society in which people have a real voice in the choices and relationships that affect the entirety of our lives. We call this vision democratic socialism — a vision of a more free, democratic and humane society.

Note their deep commitment to democracy as a means...and as an ends as they define it for the people. They would not accept democratic selection of capitalism by the people but would force their brand of socialism on them. This is what makes them Marxist: Marx had no patience with the people, with Engels he declared a dictatorship of the proletariat. Lenin followed suit in insistance on his socialist vanguard commanding the people. Stalin implemented it.

So where's the liberal #resistance?

Where's the difference in them?

Where's the difference in them?

One group proclaims their socialism, the other denies it. That's about it.

You could expand that group to include many "republicans." Its not in their rhetoric but it is in many of their actions. Actions are the only thing that counts.

Unless we make the working person's life better this trend will continue. If you work full time you should not require government assistance. If you do , some will figure why not go all in?

"..make the working person's life better..." -- We grew up dirt poor and never ever, once, looked for someone to make our life better. We went to school, took chances, took risks and made lives somewhat better (others even more so) than the lives economically we were raised in. When give to one, you necessarily have to take from the other. I'm at the office now, and I've been here since 6:13. I'll be here til 4 or 5, depending on whether Mrs. U wants to go to Mass tonight or tomorrow. How do we get people to make their own lives better?

"...If you work full time you should not require government assistance..." -- Government assistance for what? For what living standard? How much of this is a creation of our own. What I mean to say is, how much of this is the entitled not wanting to work for it, but wanting it given to them? The downward push on the unemployment rate should push wage rates up b/c it'll drive competition for workers, correct? I've asked many times on here but I've never gotten a simple answer -- what tax rate will satisfy the liberals? What percentage of my income will make you satisfied taking? -- Personally, I think the answer is that there is no rate, as long as someone has more than someone else, they'll want to take it.
