"We will vote to confirm Justice Kennedy's successor this fall," McConnell said on the Senate floor.

You Leftists will go catatonic. But, wouldn't it seem so much more genuine had you not filibustered Gorsuch? Kept some powder dry? For actual real battles that could result in a solid 5 Right Court. Roberts, Alito, Thomas, Gorsuch already rock strong, Thomas perhaps the top legal scholar in the nation today after Scalia's death.

Trump sits a very Conservative Judge.....and you leftists are in serious trouble, every one of your little heart throb issues comes into play. Planned parenthood, fighting terrorism, immigration, etc. Y'all best come up with something different than a bunch of zit faced kids taunting in public restaurants. Best come up with a reason we don't rip to court away for you for the next 20 years.

How yuge was that Gorsuch seat? The relevance of that especially given the last two days......expecially given Kennedy's announcement. I take everything back I ever said teasing you Demmies of being scared :Skeert: I can see why you'd be scared now. I get it. It's coming apart, or appears to be. you're.....losing.

This is one of the issues which will be front and center during the mid term elections. I can't wait to watch Schumer destroy his party in his response.

Could it be Mike Lee? (https://reason.com/blog/2018/06/27/could-sen-mike-lee-replace-justice-antho) A sitting senator who wrote two books on constitutional law issues.

Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy has written his final opinion and will retire (https://reason.com/blog/2018/06/27/justice-anthony-kennedy-is-retiring-and) from the bench later this summer. Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) has an idea about who might be a suitable replacement.

"If somebody asked me if I would consider that, I would not say no," Lee told (https://twitter.com/FoxReports/status/1012043804868796417?s=19) reporters on Wednesday, not long after news broke that the 82-year-old Kennedy would be retiring. That's quite a change from two years ago, when Lee quickly shot down (https://www.politico.com/story/2016/09/mike-lee-no-trump-supreme-court-228573) rumors that he would be interested in a Supreme Court appointment.

Lee might very well be asked. His is one of 25 names on the White House's official list (https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/president-donald-j-trumps-supreme-court-list/) of potential Supreme Court picks—a list that was originally put together by Donald Trump's campaign prior to the 2016 election and was most recently updated, according to the White House website where the list now resides, last November. Trump on Wednesday indicated that Kennedy's replacement would be drawn from that list, which also includes Lee's brother Thomas, who currently sits on the Utah Supreme Court.

It's likely that we will know the identify of Trump's second Supreme Court nominee pretty soon. A spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) indicated (https://twitter.com/frankthorp/status/1012035688534020096?s=19) that Kennedy's replacement could be confirmed before the midterm elections in November, and rank-and-file Republicans want confirmation hearings to be held sometime in August or September. Everything else that might be on the congressional agenda for the second half of the year—although there wasn't much—seems to have been knocked down a peg.

Ted Cruz is also floated by some, and he has no judicial experience as well.

A couple are walking along a country road. the guy has to take a crap. He gets hurting worse and worse. Finally he sees an old Outhouse. He tell the girl to wait.

She waits and waits and waits. Finally she goes up to the outhouse and call his name. All she hears is a muffled screech.

She goes in and the guy is bent over and halfway in the out house. She pulls him up and asks what happened.

"Well, my jacket fell in and i was trying to retrieve it."

"Why? You weren't going to wear it again were you?"

"Of course not but I had a baloney sandwich in my pocket."

The baloney sandwich is liberalism.

I believe Ted Cruz was a clerk for a Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and at least one other federal judge. Still, his nomination would make left wing heads explode.

I would love to watch a confirmation hearing where Democrats tried to stump or trap him on constitutional issues. That would be a hoot.
