View Full Version : Jimmy Carter: Jesus would not approve of most abortions......
Former President Jimmy Carter believes Jesus would not approve of abortions aside for a few exceptions.
“I have a hard time believing that Jesus, for instance, would approve abortions unless it was because of rape or incest or saving the mother's life or some danger,” the Democrat told HuffPost Live.
Carter, who served as president from 1977-1981, said he has struggled over the years to personally accept the Supreme Court’s 1973 landmark decision in Roe v. Wade that recognized a woman’s constitutional right to have an abortion.
“I have had a problem with abortion. This has been a longtime problem of mine,” he explained. “My oath of office was to obey the Constitution and the laws of this country as interpreted by the Supreme Court, so I went along with that. But that’s been the only caveat.”
He does think Jesus would approve of same-sex marriage.
“Everybody should have a right to get married, regardless of their sex. The only thing I would draw a line on, I wouldn’t be in favor of the government being able to force a local church, congregation to perform gay marriages if they didn’t want to,” he continued.....snip~

Uh oh.....The leftness is going to go after Jimmy about this. What say ye?
Jimmy I cannot speak for Jesus but I am relatively certain he would oppose all destruction of life.
Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy we buy you books and send you to school and you still don't get it. Jesus would, in my opinion again I do not speak for Him, not approve of same sex relationships because His Father stated that a man who lies with a man as he does with a woman is an abomination.

I doubt that Jesus, at least in my understanding of Him, would approve of abortion under "special" circumstances. Jesus, as the Perfect Son, would have understood all life was created by his father and would not have condoned the ending of that life simply because of its manner of conception.
As far as same sex marriage is concerned, again, as a dutiful Son would abide by his Father's word on the subject. Furthermore the Bible plainly condemns homosexuality as sinful. Since God would never condone sinful actions He would never condone same sex marriage.
While the Bible does address homosexuality, it does not explicitly mention gay marriage/same-sex marriage. It is clear, however, that the Bible condemns homosexuality as an immoral and unnatural sin. Leviticus 18:22 (https://biblia.com/bible/esv/Lev%2018.22) identifies homosexual sex as an abomination, a detestable sin. Romans 1:26-27 (https://biblia.com/bible/esv/Rom%201.26-27) declares homosexual desires and actions to be shameful, unnatural, lustful, and indecent.First Corinthians 6:9 (https://biblia.com/bible/esv/1%20Cor%206.9) states that homosexuals are unrighteous and will not inherit the kingdom of God. Since both homosexual desires and actions are condemned in the Bible, it is clear that homosexuals “marrying” is not God’s will, and would be, in fact, sinful.
Whenever the Bible mentions marriage, it is between a male and a female. The first mention of marriage, Genesis 2:24 (https://biblia.com/bible/esv/Gen%202.24), describes it as a man leaving his parents and being united to his wife. In passages that contain instructions regarding marriage, such as 1 Corinthians 7:2-16 (https://biblia.com/bible/esv/1%20Cor%207.2-16) and Ephesians 5:23-33 (https://biblia.com/bible/esv/Eph%205.23-33), the Bible clearly identifies marriage as being between a man and a woman. Biblically speaking, marriage is the lifetime union of a man and a woman, primarily for the purpose of building a family and providing a stable environment for that family.

Good for Jimmy to have his own opinions and not go by the standard Democratic playbook.

Well he is of the age when one can legitimately stop giving a damn about the opinions of others.

Jimma Cawder claims to be a Baptist Born Again Christian yet the majority of his "Christian Doctrine" comes nowhere near Baptist Orthodoxy. He has never much cared what doctrine thought of his "beliefs" Just as he was a piss poor president he was also a piss poor Sunday School Teacher.

I feel you Jimmy. For the money pit is has become we have made it acceptable. It really should be treated less callously. It is so flippant it is scary. No one should be so quick to down talk those who are concerned about this issue. Someone has to stand up. I personally struggle with this issue. But we need the service available to people, but it needs to be handled way more responsibly. An example is a 13 year old getting an abortion with no real due diligence without parental notification / interaction.

Yeah, it don't look like he is to worried about the Demos coming for him.

Yet that same 13-year old cannot get a piercing or tattoo without parental approval. Kind of a little fouled up if one thinks about it.
