The Dems are lurching to the left. The repubs still spend like drunken dems.

Where are our Founders?

The new face of an emerging democratic socialist movement joined its patriarch in the most unlikely place Friday, calling on Kansans unhappy with the direction of the country to get off the sidelines in a pivotal Republican-held congressional district.

“We know that people in Kansas, just like everywhere else in this country, just like families in the Bronx, just want a fair shake,” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the surprise winner in a New York House primary last month, told a frenetic crowd of more than 3,000 in a Kansas suburb of Kansas City.

Headlining a rally with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, Ocasio-Cortez sought to infuse the final weeks of Democrat Brent Welder’s congressional primary campaign with the enthusiasm that lifted her over 20-year Democratic incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley last month.
In an election year defined by energized Democratic voters seeking to send President Donald Trump a message, Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez were betting they could stir up liberals in places where the left rarely competes.

The 28-year-old Latina from New York and the 76-year-old Jewish senator from Vermont struck a stark contrast in the hotel ballroom, though they reflected the range of people in the racially and ethnically mixed crowd, weighted toward millennials but including gray-haired activists and parents with children.

Their combined messages sought to unite not just the diverse group in the hall, but restless liberals around the country.
“Whether you live in Kansas or Vermont or New York City, you want your children to have a decent life,” Sanders said. “And yes, we have differences. But despite these huge differences, we have a hell of a lot more in common.”

Kansas, where Trump won by more than 20 percentage points in 2016, would seem inhospitable for a duo championing strikingly progressive positions such as universal, single-payer health care and government-paid tuition to public college.

Well ya ever see those grounds with Chiseled Stone and Crosses in them. See, when humans die, many get buried into the ground. Some get sent to a Community burial site. While others get cremated. We call those grounds....Cemeteries.

I said way back before Sanders was running in the 2016 Democratic primaries that the Democrats couldn’t win if they kept being a centrist, corporate sell-out party. I reaffirmed that prediction when Hillary Clinton, the most centrist and corporate sell-out Democrat in history, ran for the DNC nod. Sure enough, she lost an election she was pretty much handed on a silver platter. Now, Sanders-endorsed DSA candidates are winning races left and right and taking down big time DNC establishment players.

The Democratic Party will change with the times, or it will remain a corporate party and fade away for a new party to take its place, as the Whigs did for the GOP in 1854.

They gave us the remedy, an Article V convention of States to propose amendments. We are slow to use it.

It is more than that. It will put the nation onto an awareness of how many want to toss the constitution our and how many do not.

You are overstating it. They've won a couple in very hard left wing enclaves. They certainly aren't winning races "left and right". There is no national trend. They are still a fringe element.

The Dems are Republican light in many respects, and the Republicans are Democrat light in other respects. It's no surprise that people are seeking alternatives, as misguided as those alternatives are. Not everybody is happy supporting glorified warmongering corporatists. It would make sense that eventually, actual leftists would distance themselves from the Hillary Clintons and Nancy Pelosis of the world.

The DNC is not going to let Sanders run again as a Democrat unless he sheds the independent lable and goes all in as a Democrat.

Since they have no other platform and their people are finally getting that poverty needs to be helped with all that spending, not just given lip service this is probably a good move for the party as a whole.
If over 50% of the people can be convinced that socialism or some socialism/capitalism hybrid different from our current capitalism/corporate ownership of the process hybrid would benefit them then this strategy will eventually prevail. Of course if our system was really working like it could no such convincing could be done.
However, given our almost limitless tolerance for debt a more socialistic hybrid could in fact make a lot of people's life better in the short run. That is the direct result of the "golden goose murder" inherent in our current hybrid. In other words our brand of what many call capitalism has failed if it has failed over 1/2 the people even short term.

Not really.

However, this shift to the hard left is going to be great news for the next Republican nominee whether that's Trump or someone else.

A funny aside to this cortez thing: Crowley is still on the ballot and will most likely beat her in the mid terms even though she 'won' the primary. She's proving to be such a blithering, clueless fucking moron that the dem establishment is worried she'll lose the seat altogether to a Republican.

She's publicly asked Crowley to remove himself from the ballot and he's stated he'll stay.

That district is definitely going to provide some lulz come November.

James Comey gets roasted on Twitter after advising Democrats not to 'rush to the socialist left'.....

Former FBI Director James Comey's advice to Democrats not to embrace the "socialist left" as a way to revolt against President Trump was met with swift reprisals Sunday on Twitter.

“Democrats, please, please don’t lose your minds and rush to the socialist left,” Comey tweeted in the late afternoon. “This president and his Republican Party are counting on you to do exactly that. America’s great middle wants sensible, balanced, ethical leadership.”

Similarly, on Tuesday, Comey urged (https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/james-comey-vote-for-democrats-in-2018-midterms-if-you-believe-in-this-countrys-values) people to people to vote for Democrats in the November midterm elections if they “believe in this country’s values," after which that tweet was met with backlash.

Brian Fallon, the press secretary for Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign, flatly rejected (https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/ex-clinton-spokesman-to-james-comey-democrats-dont-want-your-endorsement) Comey’s call, tweeting back: "Democrats don't want your endorsement, but thanks."....snip~

Ahahahaha…..the leftness dumped on Comey. The Right has dumped on Comey. He should ask why he is the New Rodney Dangerfield, and why he can't get no respect.

People will vote for self gain, if a system offers them more of that than the current one than it will prevail. That's why we need to return to true price competition.
