When you need close air support, nothing beats the A-10.
If it works, don't throw it away.
The A-10 has a superb success rate, with low maintenance to man hours of operation, compared to other attack aircraft. It is not a cash cow. And it completes missions. To let the A-10 die, would erode morale of ground troops in combat.
The A-10 is reliable. It is very dependable. And that's what the ground troops need.
