Only a crazy man would set goals that he knows are not possible to achieve by him or anyone else.

I'm sleepy, Kizz. I'll pop in tomorrow. Possibly Monday if I get absorbed in a footall game.
Reasonable isn't the same as rational or logical. People like to find simple answers to complex problems, even if they don't really explain anything--how was the universe created? It can range from "God did it" to a long explanation of the big bang. Personally I like to put more weight towards the scientific method, but definitely not all weight. The parts of me who think otherwise are irrational, illogical.
Here's the problem: I don't know how to describe why ANYTHING is irrational. I'm not good at it. It's generally the same answer for me--if someone thinks the government is building concentration camps and they're going to put everyone who disagrees with the government into them--I can tell them it's irrational and tell them that reality doesn't seem to reflect their paranoia, but that's really all I can do, and I say the same thing about my own belief that there MAY be something bigger than us--there's nothing rational about me thinking there MAY be something bigger than us--there's nothing in reality that should rationally give me that conclusion. And to be paranoid enough to think there's a being watching and judging everything you do--that takes quite the belief in irrational things.Quote:
Why do you think your belief is irrational?
I'm sorry, I know you've went to bed, but that's just so false. There are so many amazing things that people have been ABLE to achieve because they tried to do the impossible. People who strive for equality continue to make the world a better place, even though they're never able to reach their goal. If you find that stupid, I'm sorry--it has only done good things in the world.
Clearly Mister D is not acquainted with Carl Rove.
Whose exploits in defying reality on Fox News are now legendary.
I'm 3 hours ahead of you so it was late here when I left.
You have yet to demonstrate why my faith is neither rational or logical. Kizzume done said so doesn't carry much weight.
now we're talking about cosmology again? You're all over the place. Religion does not seek to answer the how but the why. Religion is about meaning. Science is not.
It's easy. Superstitions (a term none of you use properly) are inherently irrational. They are irrational by definition. Let's say I avoid orange cats because I'm convinced some harm will come to me if I come near one. That's not rational. It is behavior marked by the absence of reason. The early Church in fact had a long battle against superstition.Quote:

There is certainly something rational about you believing in a higher power among much else. How does one make sense of his world and his place in it? You're alive! You perceive incredible complexity around you. Reason demands answers to those great questions of life. Do you really suppose the great thinkers throughout the ages were irrational for seeking answers? These are the essential questions of being.
The problem is that you are bitter about the fact that some religious do not accept your sexuality. Ironically, instead of taking a real stand against them you've allowed them destroy you. You would deny your own humanity.
