We had Banana spiders back home in South East Louisiana. They look similar.

The first time I saw one of those waa last summer in Memphis. I was walking around a small lake with a girl that was a nature freak so she knew what it was. As for me? I was mortified.

They probably capture it and put it in your bed, in the pillow case where it will be warm next to your face.

Its called a Banana Spider and will just one day disappear. Maybe it will be back next year or maybe it won't. As long as you don't climb up in the web it will completely leave you alone. This is the female of the species. If you look very closely at the web you will see a much smaller spider, about the size of a fly. That is the male. At the end of their life cycle they will mate and she will eat the male. After she lays her eggs she will disappear, presumably she crawls off and dies.

The other day I had to do some work sitting at my kitchen table and there was one of those giant brown spiders on the floor. He was injured he was missing a few legs. I normally put them in a cup and release them outside. But he was injured, so I just let him be. I sat down at the table to do my work, and he walked over near my foot and even though I would move around he just stayed there, almost like he needed comforted. I just let him be there. Who knows where he is now, LoL.
