A new California law, if passed, could force companies ... to add more women to their

Many economists, Hayek among the first, define socialism as central planning. Here's an instance of socialism creeping into centrally planning private businesses.

A new California law, if passed, could force companies like Facebook, Tesla and Alphabet to add more women to their boards

A new bill in California — the first of its kind in the U.S. — could force major companies, including many household-name tech firms, to bring more women to the boardroom.

Bill SB-826, which passed California’s state congress a few weeks ago and is now on Governor Jerry Brown’s desk, would require all public companies with principal executive offices in the state to have a minimum number of women on their boards — proportionate to the total number of board members — within the next few years.

For some major tech companies, including Alphabet, Facebook, Intel, Snap, Apple, Tesla and Yelp, this means that they’ll have to add at least one more female board member by 2021 to meet the bill’s quota. It requires boards with five members to have at least two women, and boards with six or more members to include at least three....

It wouldn't hold up with SCOTUS.

California doesn't do much anymore that would even make it to the SCOTUS, let alone hold up.

Now watch those companies start pulling out of CA..............that'll be worth the popcorn to watch.........
and what gives them the Right to dictate policy for other states? If Facebook is an Indiana business (as a bad example), CA cannot write laws to dictate how they run their business in other states. Does Brown tink he runs this country? I say, let 'em cede

The San Francisco real estate market alone would pull the Bay Area in to...the Bay.

None. My point was Google would strike me as young, liberal, etc and would probably have no problem with women on the board. Here's the thing, the highest corporate offices often require 20 plus years of obsessive 80 hour week workalcoholism. ( Not to mention a certain flare for being a back stabbing $#@!. Most men don't want to put in the life required but I believe an even smaller percentage of women are willing to. Once adjusted for that there is little if any glass ceiling. Remember these corps are in business to make and would sell their grandmothers into slavery to do so. They'd appoint anyone to the board who was qualified to help make that happen , man woman or trans clown.

It looks like Google is in the clear, or doesn't have a big presence in California. Here's the targeted companies from the link:

Just because women make up half the population does not mean they make up half the qualified candidates. That sort of simplistic outlook should never be the basis for law.Well then by God they should pass a law to assure equal male representation in the medical profession including nursing.
