Music died when it started being recorded and became national if not global. Prior, music was largely local with borrowings as musicians traveled. You can definitely see the change in old folk music and blues, though I'm sure other genres changed as well.
Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire. ― Gustav Mahler

When the first 50,000 watt AM stations began broadcasting out Nashville, Del Rio and Chicago it introduced many different genres to people who had never really heard true country etc.. When the 50's music scene exploded as a mixture of rhythm & blues, country etc it broadened interest across the board. Zeppelin, the Stones, Beatles, Elvis gleamed their interest and styles from the Delta Blues and a mix of other styles

this is an example of " the hook".
This is the Stones first foray into funk music. " Hot Stuff" was written by Jagger/Richards as a mockery of themselves and their level of sociopathy. This first appeared on the " Black and Blue" album that was recorded under the working title " hot stuff". This video is them playing up to and mocking themselves. Donna Summer later recorded it. Listen to Richards hit the " hook" in the first second. If memory serves me I believe this was recorded in e minor. Billy Preston on keyboards.
