Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Hayden "Jay" Powell testified in front on Maxine's Waters House Finance Committee the other day to speak about the state of the US Economy and Monetary Policy. To summarize what Chairman Powell had to say,
US economy is in a very good place.
The economy is performing well.
Signs of global growth bottoming out are getting better.
Reduced trade policy uncertainty.
Seeing strong job creation.
Continued moderate growth
Wage growth is highest at the low and moderate end of the wage scale which is very positive.
A good strong US economy.
In summary, strength of the economy is due to strong job creation, and low unemployment. States raising minimum wages is a factor but a minor secondary factor.
