Finally, my truck to the shop

I have an old 57 Chevy pick up. All original in need of a restoration. I have another one that I did myself a few years ago, but this time I wanted to make this a custom job.

I can't fabricate, chop a top or do custom interiors. I contacted one of the custom hot rod shops you see on the weekly TV shows. I enquired about having my truck done by him. I had to send him a detailed video of the truck and close up pictures of everything.

After reviewing my video, photos and telling him what I was looking for and my budget he agreed to accept the job. This was two years ago. He told me then that he was looking at nearly two years out to take on a new project.

Last week he contacted me and told me he's ready if I'm still willing. I sent the truck to him today on a trailer. He said it's going to be nine months if everything goes as planned. Then he said to expect some problems, because something always comes up, but he will keep it within 15% of my original budget. He will deduct 10% per month for the final bill for every month past the nine month deadline.

I'm pretty jazzed about this. My wife? Eh.... Not so much. She doesn't like 57 Chevy trucks. She would rather spend the money on more kitchen upgrades. I'm fine with the kitchen the way it is.

What's the TV show ?? Will the restoration be featured on tv ??
It's ok if you disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.

I’m supposed to not say. I can say that there’s been no conversations about that.

I can post pics when it’s done. I don’t think it would be used in the TV show because it’s not going to something considered “over the top”. Just a few custom touches. No flame paint job. No air adjustable suspension.

Bummer. I watch a couple of restoration shows on the weekends when I take care of my mother, I'll keep an eye out for a 57 Apache pick up.

A pick-up truck. No place for the doggie in the back window.
