    My question as well.
I have Flavius Josephus' "Antiquities of the Jews" right in front of me and he mentions nothing of Jesus' political leanings.
    What other sources are there?
The fundamental difference between conservatives and liberals is simple.
Conservatives, like our founders, understand that man has a propensity to do evil. They accept this fact of human nature and have given us the tools to protect ourselves from those who might victimize us.
Liberals believe that under the right mandates, restrictions and incentives all that potential evil can be bred out of humanity.

You really must see it. He is all over the place. He bashes conservatives relentllessly. They hate everyone. They are lunatics he says. The liberals are good loving people that do nothing to hurt their fellowman. He loves the taliban. But he doesn't love conservatives. And he doesn't see his hypocrisy.

the reporter should have asked him if he loved conservatives.

I think at the end he realized he'd pooped in his mess kit.
This is one of my favorite things about liberals CJ. Even when they're making complete $#@!s of themselves and redefining "don't know jack" in the process they STILL give off that aura of "I'm smarter than you" while doing it.
    ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY ADORABLE!!!

I suspect he's talking about "lost Gospels" and other texts that postdate the Synoptics and the Pauline letters. Apparently, those texts are free of redaction. lol

Actually, there are quite a few extra-biblical sources for the "historical Jesus". Some are more controversial than others but they include Tacitus, Pliny, and Lucian among others.

There are lots of sources for this. I have read lots of things along these lines. The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail covers many of these sources. Although it has been a long time since I have read it, I don't believe that the authors discounted Jesus' divinity. They did offer many alternatives to the official story.

    Sources for this?

Jesus was immersed in party politics .
Jesus was a rebel who split from the Eastern early Christians on fundamental grounds and was prepared later to work with the Zealots to rule on a consensus basis .
The latter doesn't even make sense.

The book that I cited above has hundreds of citations for that. It covers many different angles. The "radical Christian cults views" and the secular views that describe Jesus as just a man. Cary is describing the latter traditions.

It has hundreds of citations of Jesus splitting "from the Eastern early Christians on fundamental grounds and was prepared later to work with the Zealots to rule on a consensus basis"? Jesus split from his disciples? What does that even mean? Who are " Eastern early Christians"?

In any case, these sources are just as subject to redaction as the earlier sources.

Also, the fact that the Romans did not annihilate the early Christian movement as they did several other contemporary Messianic movements speaks decisively against the idea that Jesus of Nazareth advocated the violet overthrow of the state.
