Why did you think the Republicans lost the House?

Well as we all know the Repubs have lost the House.... The Demos picked up 26 seats. But did not get their Blue Wave.

Nate Silver.....was predicting 30 or more seats lost. Still a win is a win, and the Demos will have Pelosi as speaker. If she can gather the support.

That being said.....what do you think caused the Repubs to lose the House. Besides the Lame Stream Media and their Pollsters fudging numbers, showing races to be neck and neck. Which now we know just weren't true.

What do you think the reasons are that Repubs didn't hold. Do you think the strategy if the Repubs was to Bend and not Break?

I think that it was inevitable. Buyer's remorse for the party in power, as it is every midterm. I'm shocked that it wasn't more of a blood bath, frankly.

History. The party in the WH loses seats in the House 90% of the time. I don't know why that is but I suspect America wants to let the WH know we are paying attention.

I know there are people here who think it doesn't matter but it does. Trump or Hilebeast. SCOTUS appointments bu any Republican as opposed to any Democrat.

Bear in mind that Obama lost 63 seats and the House in his first midterm. Trump increased the Republican vote in the Senate. Collins and Murkowski no longer have the power they had. They don't have to be bought off anymore.

The media lying, democrat politicians raging and ranting, all had their base whipped into a frenzy. Also illegal voting had an impact how big who knows.

I think Paul Ryan and the anti trumpers helped the democrats, thankfully Paul ryan is now done, ive always loathed the guy, flake and corker will be gone.

One thing is for certain Trump and his agenda was not repudiated by this election, if he were to have been it would have been worse than 2010, democrats are clearly not fully on solid ground with the country.

Right, despite all the hoopla about a blue wave, it was a narrow victory.

Partly the inevitable backlash, as Dave said; partly the Republicans accomplished so little.

The Democrats took the House for one simple reason.

Stupid people are allowed to vote.

I think one thing that spurred people to vote democrat was concern over McConnell's claim that he wanted cuts in Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. Where I live it was of great concern to the seniors who feared losing their benefits. It was very poor timing on McConnell's part IMO.

I think it should be for anyone who is a senior citizen or approaching retirement age.
