Post Seattle -- What to do?

In something she's "always wanted to do" Mrs. U and I are taking 13 people on an Alaskan Cruise in July. We are flying in on a Thursday and leaving from port on a Friday. She wanted to have dinner at that Needle/Tower rotating restaurant but it is undergoing renovation and may not be open.

Does anybody have any thoughts on where to have dinner for 13 people on a Thursday evening. We're staying at a hotel within walking distance of that tower but I'm sure we can walk or Uber to anywhere. I'd heard that there's another building-top restaurant out there but I can't find it.

Also, any thoughts on what to do there for an afternoon other than the Fish Market and Starbucks #1? The age range will be 13-55.

    Thx.

I'm not superstitious but I also don't play with fire. If you are flying , going up in a really tall building AND on a boat maybe you should invite one more relative. LOL

Go to Ballard and watch the boaters go through the locks from Puget Sound into Lake Union. Sometimes it can be quite entertaining. People do some crazy stuff in the locks. It would be a short cab ride from downtown.

You could go south on first ave to the Pioneer Square area and take the Seattle underground tour. That is cool.

You could also go visit Paul Allen's Experience Music Project (EMP). It's right by the Seattle Center. It's awesome. I think it's now considered the museum of popular culture.

Dinner for 13 at the Metropolitan Grill. It will be fairly spendy, but good.

Anything other than their prime rib is good anyway.

There's another place just a short walk from the cruise ship pier where you could take a large group to dinner. It's a restaurant called Fisherman's Terminal. Decent food, scenic atmosphere and not as spendy as many others.
I don't recommend dinner in the Space Needle. I haven't been there in years, but the last time I did, it was extremely expensive and the food was mediocre at best.

Nope, and I'd skip Starbucks. I think any restaurant on the water is probably good.

Ivar's is on the waterfront and it is horrible.

Ivars used to be good, but whoever runs it now ruined it. Stay away. You'll be disappointed. It is an insult to seafood.
