Yes, I pick one based upon the pesky facts and real world evidence from our era. However, I also dismiss three because the CIA would be involved and they are way more than an intel agency, they are a $#@! stick stirring, coup fueling, para military nightmare.

The biggest mistake might have been going in 1991. The second biggest was starting to listen to media/donttread/and now Peter-like Observers who either have an agenda or don't know any better. Pity actually
Do you really think I'm that influencial? Thanks. The bottom line is this. Real world facts from our era DO NOT support your highly interventionist beliefs. Sorry, you can insult and try to sound tough and suggest controling all world behavior all you want but Peter is responding to real world evidence, as do I. Your idea of foreign policy no longer works and if you cannot change with the times you're just another blustering old dinosaur to be ignored.

How so? I guess if we ignored it , they could become a burnt out fundamentalist stronghold usung women and children as chattle and a hotbed for terrorism. Oh wait, that happened AFTER we intervened back in the 80's. Never mind.

On the contrary, you're that dime a dozen. Many people hate their country, you're not alone, nor 'influencial.'

    The bottom line is this.
Actually, the bottom line is your atrocious spelling. Influential.......doesn't have a f'n c in it, donttread. Influence has a c in it, influential doesn't, if you're a well read individual, you'd know this.

Real world facts from our era DO NOT support your highly interventionist beliefs. Sorry, you can insult and try to sound tough and suggest controling all world behavior all you want but Peter is responding to real world evidence, as do I. Donttread....does the word 'controling' have one l or two? Hmm.
And I understand completely we blustering dinos are being ignored. Why...it happens on these pages quite frequently, doesn't it? We'll all remember the rise of the Islamic State, we T-Rex's were ignored then too. You isolationists and 'realism disciples' like Peter were blustering forth. "The US has no interest in the outcome in Syria." "The Islamic State is a made up boogieman."

Ransom cautioned and blustered........uhhh......Gentlemen.....the US best do something about this....this is a national security crisis.

The realists like Pete and Obama blustered jv team/sideshow, no security interests.

Donttread........not only ignored the blustering neocons.....he went as far as to ask.....well "what threat does ISIS pose the US anyways?"

And note actually reality.....the actual bottom line.......member donttread don't ask that question anymore. Ever. Member donttread had his question not only answered, but firmly answered so.....that question has never ever seen the light of day again, after all, how would it look today? After Paris, after San B, after Nice, after Berlin..........what would donttread look like asking that question......why....he'd look naïve is what he would look like. As well, Peter don't claim we've no interest in the outcome of the conflict in Syria any longer either.

BEcause you both have learned. Either Ransom.....or reality......both were speaking the same language and speaking it correctly. You two bone fcked the Islamic State analysis.....and continue to do so today. Bottom line.......listen to your Uncle Ransom....I'll steer you true.

We ignored them after the Soviets left. That is how al Qaeda was able to use it as a base while it plotted 9-11.

Option 3 in the article says to pay attention for that sort of thing.

We have an interest in transnational terrorists groups operating out of Afghanistan. We have no interest in Afghanistan's internal affairs. That is how you Neocons ended up in a quagmire against the Taliban- one of the most popular groups with the Afghan people.
